         1.  International Human Solidarity Day—a UN holiday observed since 2005 commemorating those who have worked for humanitarian purposes.

         5.   Blue 42 Day—celebrating the birthday on this day of Branch Rickey, manager of the Brooklyn Dodgers who broke the color ban in baseball by signing Jackie Robinson, number 42.

      a. 1946 the Christmas classic It’s a Wonderful Life starring James  Stewart and Donna Reed premiered in New York City.
       b. 1951 EBR-1 in Arco, Idaho became the first nuclear reactor to generate electricity with enough juice to power four light bulbs.
      c. 1996 NeXT merged with Apple paving the way for the introduction of Mac OS X.
