Ridley's Believe It Or Not--This Day In History-January 16, 2014

Ridley's Believe It Or Not--January 16, 2014:  Slim pickings for holidays today, but did find these gems of questionable legitimacy (other than Flag Day and Religious Freedom Day) to celebrate:
             1.
Flag Day---If in Israel: ours is on June 14.
             2. Get to Know Your Customer Day--If you have to wait till this day, you're probably out of business or meeting with lawyers to prepare B/K filing.
             3. Appreciate a Dragon Day---Originated in 2004 by Donita K. Paulto celebrate literacy with the realease of DragonSeed.  Read a book to your children and do not let them play Dungeons and Dragons in celebration.
             4. Religious Freedom Day. Regardless of faith or nonfaith, great day to realize how fortunate we are in terms of our religious rights.
On this day in:
             a.  1919 the 18th Amendment was ratified, allowing the failied experiment of Prohibition to commence one year later.
             b.  1991 the Pentagon announced the commencement of Operation Desert Storm, the "Mother of All Battles" which resulted in defeat of Iraqi forces in 100 hours (Now that's a blitzkrieg!).
              c.   2005 Romanian university lecturer and novelist Adrian Iliescu gave  birth at 66 to her daughter Eliza, breaking the record for the oldest birth mother in the world--nothing like being 84 to watch your daughter graduate form high school or 88 on college graduation.
As Fallujah goes up in flames will Al-Hillah (site of ancient Baylon) 110 kilometers suffer a similar fate? "And Babylon shall become heaps, a dwellingplace for dragons, an astonishment, and an hissing, without an inhabitant. Jeremiah 51:37 Trifecta-link religious freedom to Dragons to start of Desert Storm. Enjoy your day.
