June 30, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Asteroid Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not June 30, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on a slowing down basis the new year with cases now over 182 million at 182,817,773 cases (182,401,747 yesterday), 11,476,061 of which are active, 171,341,712 closed with 167,383,841 recoveries (97.69% and 97.69% yesterday), and 3,957,871 deaths (2.31% and 2.31% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentage with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 34 million at 34,529,931 (34,513,659 yesterday) with 4,891,301 active cases of which 3,845 (3,842) yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now up to .079% of active cases and now back to a 3 serious or critical cases increase to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 25,426), 29,638,630 closed, with 620,037 deaths (2.09% and 2.09% yesterday) and with 29,018,593 recoveries (97.91% and 97.91% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to slowly improve and after many months is still .22% lower than the world’s death rate.

Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1862 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5749) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.38% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.90% of its closed cases have died (3113), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2617),   Brazil (2411) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Belgium (2162), Italy (2113), Argentina (2054), Poland (1984), and the UK (1878) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1787), Romania (1768), Spain (1729),  France (1698), Chile (1688) Portugal (1681),  Sweden (1436) that never closed its economy down like we did, Bolivia (1412) and Switzerland (1249).                   Tests: As more and more of us are being vaccinated we are testing fewer each day and we have now conducted 505,620,703 tests (now at 1,518,704/M) compared to number 2 now France at 1,423,013/M) as we are conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,109,926/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys   that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which been passed by Argentina to move down to 11th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1787/M with a fatality rate of 10.44% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                    Guatemala:  Active Cases:  19,101 Deaths/M  501
                    Honduras:    Active Cases: 162,686 Deaths/M  694
                    El Salvador:  Active Cases:    3,813 Deaths/M  365
US Vaccinations: As of 6/30/21 326.5 million doses with after 4 days of decreasing doses finally increasing for 4 days from .896 million per day yesterday to 1.002 million per day which means if the rate does not increase it will take now take us some 5 months to miss Biden’s goal of having 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who is suggesting 90%). In California 42,644,084 total doses have been given (86.8 of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 85.5%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully ends Newsom’s term, California moved from  21st to 10th  of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 49.8% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 46.7% is still at 18th  among the 50 states (maybe Newsom’s vaccine lottery deserves more credit).  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non  CV News: In Miami as searchers are still trying to comb the rubble       for survivors, the confirmed death count has increased to 18 with the bodies of 2 children 16 and confirmed missing at 147 as Dan Prietto who in a wish I had not said that moment when he in 2018 advised the HOA Board that the building was in “good shape” has left the consulting firm he had been hired by before the collapse;  the search for bodies will continue as news of a tropical storm which will make the search very difficult is bearing down on Miami. Bill Cosby at age 83 who had already served 3 years of a 10 year sentence for rape and sexual abuse has had his conviction overturned by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court due to an agreement signed by him and prosecutors that he would not be prosecuted for giving his deposition (he was obviously guilty and should have been prosecuted and if convicted but an agreement is an agreement that the prosecutors should never have made given the number of victims willing to testify but should have realized they were bound by it); after Harris hung out at the El Paso Airport and a CBP processing facility forced against her political instinct to hide behind the shibboleth of “finding root causes”, Trump and Abbot went to the border to blast Biden for creating a really dangerous situation at our open border with record numbers of illegals crossing due to Biden’s perceived invite while campaigning and the reversal of effective Trump policies (Reds should have had Trump shown in front of the wide open section of the uncompleted wall or a section where photographers would have caught hundreds coming across the Rio Grande):

Omar who excoriated Jewish members of contracts and ignored the involvement of Jews in the Civil Rights Movement has walked back her comments but cannot erase the fact that she is a rabid anti-Semite and like Rep Green should be kicked off all her Committees; the NCAA is moving toward allowing college athletes from monetizing their name, image and likeness while playing college sports but not being paid to enroll or play (watch the richer more successful schools prosper and smaller market programs suffer as at least in professional sports the losers in the standings chose first in the draft); Chris Hayes finally tiring of his failed RussiaGate campaign against Trump has now lowered his Quixote lance to attack Trump and Reds for conspiring to delegitimize elections ignoring his role in the false accusations of the election of Stacey Abrams being stolen from her (fortunately this fellow Bobbsey Twin of bias with Laurence O’Donnell is mired in 10th place in cable ratings; the suspect as yet unnamed who caused a massive collision in the Tour de France is facing a real slap on the wrist of $1700 if convicted despite the injuries and potential serious injuries she caused:

Cal State University East Bay is reportedly paying faculty members a stipend of $1200 to attend a brain washing session of CRT designed to help them eradicate “whiteness”; Brittaney’s request to have her father removed as her conservator has been dismissed by the judge without prejudice so her nightmare will continue; sadly to the Blues and their open boarder mantra children abandoned by the coyotes seem to be acceptable collateral damage as one of the 23 Reds who accompanied Trump to the border revealed his interface with a 6 year old abandoned at the border by the coyotes; frustrated that the 2nd Amendment has thwarted their attempts to ban law abiding citizens for owning firearms, the Blues in San Jose have come up with the inane idea of taxing gun ownership in an amount not yet announced and requiring additional insurance to own a gun; in a growing concern Biden is merely a puppet under leftist control leave it to the political cartoonist to point 2 a stringer puller:

Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through June 29, 2,021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 1939 persons shot of whom 330 have died.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a recording musical link to “(Ghost) Riders of the Sky: A Cowboy Legend” by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra, the fact that you are careful with things that are ruptile, and a quote by Elon Musk on the dangers other than asteroids that humanity faces, some natural and others manmade, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Fourth of July, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. Please contact me for details on pricing.
            1.  Asteroid Day—created by Stephen Hawking and some 200 scientists, astronauts, artists, and technologists on December 14, 2014 and first celebrated on June 30, 2015 the anniversary of the impact by this day on 1908 near Tunguska, Siberia of a large asteroid that flattened some 2500 square kilometers of forest to promote awareness to the possibilities of large objects hitting the Earth that are too big to be burned up in our atmosphere and pursue methods to detect and possibly destroy them.
            2. Social Media Day—created by Mashable on June 30, 2010 “as a way to recognize and celebrate social media’s impact on global communication” of which it has had a tremendous impact and given the proclivity to censor conservative ideas not favored by the left a good portion of that impact dangerous to democratic society.
            3. 1949 Number 1 Song USA—the number 1 song in 1949 on this day on a run of 11 weeks in the position was “(Ghost) Riders In the Sky: A Cowboy Legend” by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra” by Vaugh Monroe and His Orchestra to join 8 other songs in the number 1 position. Here is a recording of “(Ghost) Riders In the Sky: A Cowboy Legend” by Vaughn Monroe and His Orchestra: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UHo6ug6yAmw. This talent baritone singer and band leader was a model train fanatic and piloted on tour often his Lockheed 12A. His days of riding with the Ghost Riders in the Sky ended shortly after surgery for a bleeding ulcer on May 21, 1873 at age 61.
             4.  Word of the Day—the word of the day is “ruptile” which means easily breakable which is why one should never allow a bull in a China shop.
             5.  80,000 Rabbits Out of a Hat--celebrating the birth on this day in 1934 of noted magician and author and member of the Orange County Knights of the Roundtable Harvey Blackstone, Jr., whose father was also a magician “The Great Blackstone” whose illusion mesmerized countless fans but in the end a cure for pancreatic cancer was not like a rabbit and he could not pull it out from a hat and died from it May 14, 1997 at age 61.

On this day in:

                  a. 1906 prompted the disclosure of unsanitary conditions in  the meat processing industry in Upton Sinclair’s The Jungle, Congress passed the Meat Inspection Act and Pure Food and Drug Act.
                   b. 1966 the National Organization of Women was founded.
                   c. 1997 in a day the residents of Hong Kong would later rue as it    would amount to a significant loss of freedoms at the hands of the ruling Chinese Communist Party, the United Kingdom ceded sovereignty over Hong Kong to the Peoples Republic of China.
                   d. 2013 19 firefighters died in Yarnell, Arizona while fighting a wildfire that came upon them to fast to run from when the wind shifted.
                    e.  2019 President Donald Trump became the first sitting president to visit North Korea.

Reflections on asteroids and other dangers we face: An asteroid or a supervolcano could certainly destroy us, but we also face risks the dinosaurs never saw: An engineered virus, nuclear war, inadvertent creation of a micro black hole, or some as-yet-unknown technology could spell the end of us.” Elon Musk whose prediction on engineered virus given our recent experience with COVID-19 which more likely than not came from a Chinese lab in Wuhan to kill almost 4,000,000 people in a worldwide pandemic which so far the Chinese Communist Party has not been held accountable.

June 29, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not World Scleroderma Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not June 29, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on a slowing down basis the new year with cases now over 182 million at 182,401,747 cases (182,043,330 yesterday), 11,495,527 of which are active, 170,906,220 closed with 166,956,909 recoveries (97.69% and 97.69% yesterday), and 3,949,311 deaths (2.31% and 2.31% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentage with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 34 million at 34,513,659 (34,495,211 yesterday) with 4,948,219 active cases of which 3,842 (3,838) yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now down to .077% of active cases and now back to a 4 serious or critical cases increase to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 25,429), 29,591,990 closed, with 619,668 deaths (2.09% and 2.10% yesterday) and with 28,972,322 recoveries (97.91% and 97.90% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to slowly improve and after many months is still .22% lower than the world’s death rate.

Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1861 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5749) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.38% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.90% of its closed cases have died (3112), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2616),   Brazil (2402) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Belgium (2162), Italy (2113), Argentina (2042), Poland (1984), and the UK (1878) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1786), Romania (1758), Spain (1728),  France (1698), Chile (1685) Portugal (1681),  Sweden (1436) that never closed its economy down like we did, Bolivia (1406) and Switzerland (1249).
Tests: As more and more of us are being vaccinated we are testing fewer each day and we have now conducted 504,883,782 tests (now at 1,516,515/M) compared to number 2 now France at 1,423,021/M) as we are conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,095,413/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys   that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which been passed by Argentina to move down to 11th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1786/M with a fatality rate of 10.45% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                    Guatemala:  Active Cases:  19,863 Deaths/M  498
                    Honduras:    Active Cases: 161,100  Deaths/M  688
                    El Salvador:  Active Cases:    3,818  Deaths/M  364
US Vaccinations: As of 6/29/21 325.2 million doses with after 4 days of decreasing doses finally increasing for 3 days from .875 million per day yesterday to .896 million per day which means if the rate does not increase it will take now take us some 6 months to miss Biden’s goal of having 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who is suggesting 90%). In California 42,513,548 total doses have been given (86.5% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 85.2%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California moved from  19th  to 21st   of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 49.7% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 46.4% has  moved up from 20th to 18th among the 50 states (maybe Newsom’s vaccine lottery deserves more credit).  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non  CV News: In Miami as frantic searchers are still trying to comb the rubble  for survivors, the confirmed death count still stands at 11 and confirmed missing at 150 as photos have been released by a pool contractor 36 hours prior to the collapse which may show signs of structural damage and a collapse waiting to happen:

(when the search for survivors ends as it soon will as over 5 days have elapsed the search for what caused the collapsed and who might be culpable of negligence will begin); in a typical show of presidential sympathy Biden and the First Lady will be visiting the collapse site; Blues in a typical modus operandi had their Energy Secretary on TV implying that the cause of the collapse of the South Tower was climate change; South Dakota is about as far from our Southern border you can get other than Hawaii and Alaska, but Governor Kristi Noem has answered the call for help and is sending 50 National Guard personnel to the border and to the delight of her state’s residents will hold 4th of July celebrations as the Biden Administration nixed fireworks at Mt. Rushmore; Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge who is the epitome of deportment and grace for a spouse of a member of the Royal Family in contrast to what Meghan Markle is not, has been given a new task, that of being a sponsor of a new warship HMS Glasgow; in a follow the money moment Gwen Berry concentrating on supporting those who have died due to “systematic racism” and whose antics at the hammer throw medals ceremony at the U.S. Olympics is being sponsored with cash help for Color of Change, a leftist group front and center in the Defund the Police movement; the most over used word and most inappropriately used word from “master bedroom” to “black holes” is racist (like the boy who falsely cried “wolf!” too many times soon the word will cease to have any meaning a real racist acts we all should condemn will go unnoticed); CNN and MSNBC who personify one trick ponies in journalism are being clobbered in the ratings as viewers are clicking them off by the thousands as in media credibility rankings it appears the U.S. has fallen to 46th in the world; former police captain Eric Adams’ lead in the Blue New York primary has shrunk to 2.8% over Kathryn Garcia, both of whom have campaigned on more police (good news on the sanity thermometer is that AOC endorsed de Blasio former staffer Maya Wiley has be eliminated); Jamie Spear, Brittany Spear’s father who is her conservator and who she wants removed as such is living in a RV near a warehouse housing some of Spear’s memorabilia; as China continues to get a free MSM pass on its human rights abuses leave it the political cartoonist to call a spade a spade and slamming NBC who will be televising the Tokyo Games:
Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through June 28, 2,021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 1918 persons shot of whom 326 have died.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a recording musical link to “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole, the fact that you can hire someone to perform runcation and a quote by Dan McNichols on the Interstate Highway System  secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Fourth of July, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.              2. National Camera Day—celebrating a visually recording device that     has been with us since 1836 and has evolved to the digital camera and the ubiquitous smart phone camera able to record video and photos.
            3. 1948 Number 1 Song USA—the number 1 song in 1948 on this day on a run of 7 weeks in the position was “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole to join 80 other songs in the number 1 position. Here is a recording of “Nature Boy” by Nat King Cole: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iq0XJCJ1Srw This incredibly talented and popular singer but heavy smoker was diagnosed with lung cancer in in December of 1964, had his left lung removed on January 25, 1965 and after leaving the hospital with his wife to take a short drive along the coast on Valentine’s Day, in the morning of February 15, 1965 at the way too early age with so many songs left to sing he died at age 45.                              4.  Word of the Day—the word of the day is “runcation” which means the act of weeding which explains why gardening is for many people not satisfying.
            5.  Failure to Assassinate Failure to Commit Suicide--celebrating the birth on this day     in 1880 of Ludwig Beck who became Chief of Staff of the Wehrmacht from 1935-1938 but soon departed from his support of Adolph Hitler and was replaced and placed on the inactive list where he started planning  assassination attempts of Hitler which failed with the July 20 coming the closest and only thwarted by an attendee at the Fuhrer’s Bunker during a conference moving von Stauffenberg’s  bomb laden briefcase being moved that resulted in Hitler being injured not killed and Beck arrested. Fearing what interrogation by the Gestapo would entail, Beck shot himself in the head but failed, causing one of his guards to administer the coup de grace.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 34 million at 34,495,211 (34,490,328 yesterday) with 4,948,219 active cases of which 3,838 (3,833) yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now down to .077% of active cases and now back to a 5 serious or critical cases increase to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 25,433), 29,546,992 closed, with 619,438 deaths (2.10% and 2.10% yesterday) and with 28,927,554 recoveries (97.90% and 97.90% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to slowly improve and after many months is still .21% lower than the world’s death rate.

Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1861 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5741) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.37% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.90% of its closed cases have died (3112), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2614),   Brazil (2399) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Belgium (2162), Italy (2112), Argentina (2030), Poland (1983), and the UK (1877) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1785), Romania (1743), Spain (1727),  France (1697),  Portugal (1680),  Chile (1675), Sweden (1435) that never closed its economy down like we did, Bolivia (1402) and Switzerland (1248).
Tests: We have now conducted 503,818,434 tests (now at 1,513,339/M) compared to number 2 now France at 1,419,669/M) as we are conducting more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,077,388/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys   that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which been passed by Argentina to move down to 11th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1785/M with a fatality rate of 10.46% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                    Guatemala:  Active Cases:  20,374  Deaths/M  496
                    Honduras:    Active Cases: 161,100  Deaths/M  688
                    El Salvador:  Active Cases:    3,767  Deaths/M  363
US Vaccinations: As of 6/28/21 324.4 million doses with after 4 days of decreasing doses finally increasing for 2 days from .803 million per day to .875  million per day which means if the rate does not increase it will take now take us  some 6 months to miss Biden’s goal of having 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who is suggesting 90%). In California 42,436,028 total doses have been given (86.6% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 85.1%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California moved from n 21st  to 19th  of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 49.6% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 46.3% has  moved up from 23rd to 20th among the 50 states.  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non  CV News: In Miami the 11th body has been recovered  with   over 150 still  missing with one of the missing Cassie Stratton calling her husband to tell him the building was shaking and the pool just disappeared before the line went dead; it is easy to disagree with Ilhan Omar but at least she is consistent once again ranting that every illegal here deserves a pathway to citizenship (fails to realize you can’t have a nation without have a secure border to determine who is allowed to enter and stay); SCOTUS failed to grant cert. on a case in which an appellate court ruled against a school district that had barred a biological female transgender who identified as a male from using the men’s restroom at school; grudges against perceived racism evident take a long time to disappear as Scottie Pippen is still calling Bulls coach Phil Jackson a racist for drawing up a play that had a white player Toni Kukoc shoot the last second winning shot in a 1994 playoff game against the Knicks instead of Pippen; the West is suffering from a massive heatwave which has cancelled track and field turnouts in Oregon causing soaring temperatures in Seattle where only 41% of the homes have air conditioning; while de Blasio inanely touts that is time to visit the Big Apple, another shooting in broad daylight in Times Square is caught on surveillance camera fortunately by a black shooter not wearing a mask; with the CDC ruling that fully vaccinated people do not have to wear masks, Ted Cruz is blasting the Biden Administration for still requiring the wearing of masks by vaccinated people 2 years and older while on trains and planes; Jake Tapper the highly biased “journalist” for CNN has lost 75% of his January viewers and is clueless that bias no longer sells (when does the Cack News Network come to its senses and fire him or at least renegotiate his contract with a significant reduction in salary given his ratings; Florence Fang has not been defanged over her “Flintstone” additions to her home and yard in Hillsborough and has settled her law suit against the city for a $125,000 payment to her; the Spanish goaltender Unai Simon tried to freeze a pass from a teammate only to have in bounce over his leg to give Croatia a 1-0 lead but fortunately his teammates scored enough times to bail him out from his error to give Spain a 5-3 victory in the quarter finals; as Biden continues to get fawning praise from the press, leave it to the political cartoonist to portray CNN’s CEO as the shoe licker he is:

Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through June 26, 2,021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 1872 persons shot of whom 320 have died.               As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a recording musical link to “Peg o' My Heart” by The Harmonicas, the fact that your neighborhood is free of runagates and a quote by Donald Wileman on the the Treaty of Versailles, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Fourth of July, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.             1.  Insurance Awareness Day—clueless as to who created  this     observance but suspect it is probably an insurance company or agency to promote awareness of the benefits of having one’s insurance in place and current and with limits and coverage appropriate for the risks need to be insured against.

            5.  Father of Brazilian Rock--celebrating the birth on this day in 1945 of noted Brazilian rock composer, singer, songwriter and producer Raul Seixas who struggled with alcohol and addiction and later developed diabetes and pancreatitis that resulted in a heart attack caused by not taking his insulin that killed him on August 21, 1989 2 days after the release of his last album.

                On this day in:
                 a. 1919 the Treaty of Versailles was signed ending the state of war between the Axis Powers and the Allies to start the clock ticking for the resumption of hostilities in the form of World War II.
                 b. 1969 the Stonewall Riots began marking the beginning of the Gay Rights Movement.
                 c. 1978 SCOTUS in the case of The Regents of the University of California v. Bakke  barred racial quotas in university admissions.
                 d.  1987 for the first time in military history civilians were targeted in a chemical attack as Iraqi warplanes bombed the Iranian town of Sardasht.
                  e. 1997 in the “Bite Fite” Mike Tyson was disqualified in the 3rd Round in his fight with Evander Holyfield for biting off a piece of Holyfield’s ear.

Reflections on the Treaty of Versailles:  The Germans denounced it as a fraud and a cheat which barely had a nodding acquaintance with the 14 Points.
The French cursed the treaty because they had been led to exchange solid advantages — particularly German territory — for British and US security guarantees — guaranties which then fell through when the US did not ratify the treaty.
By the 1920s most Britons deplored the Treaty as well, both for being unfair to Germany and for being so harsh economically that it kept the economy of Europe from fully recovering from the War.
The US, of course, rejected the Treaty fairly massively.   US citizens saw it as a document which — particularly through the League of Nations, whose Charter was written right into the Treaty — tried to embroil them in the corrupt politics and quarrels of old Europe — which the USA had supposedly been designed as an escape from!
Once another Great War broke out, only 20 years later, the discredit of the Treaty of Versailles was complete.   There are scholars who speak of the time between the wars as a 20 years armistice and nothing more.”  Donald G. Wileman, Ph.D, lecturer at York University, Ontario, Canada
