October 15, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not White Cane Safety Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not October 15, 2020

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 615,136 new cases (a 1.59%  increase compared to a 1.26% increase yesterday) to bring the total over  38 million to 38,560,330, 8,693,782  of  which  are active, 30,480,784 of which have been closed with 29,378,743 recoveries (96.38% compared to  yesterday’s 96.36%) and 1,102,041 deaths (3.62% compared to yesterday’s 3.64%) to continue the trend of increased recovery percentages and decreased mortality percentages.

CV USA Cases: New cases of 107,933 with total cases over 8 million at 8,107,211 (a 1.33% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.35% increase) with 2,673,4597 active cases of which 15,270, recently on a disturbing upward trend with slight blips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (15,090 yesterday and 15,881 on September 1), are in serious or critical condition as trend continues to go down, and 5,542,856 closures, 222,717 of which have been deaths (4.02 compared to yesterday’s 4.05%) and 5,320,139 of which have been recoveries (95.98% compared to yesterday’s 95.95%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve and are finally in single digits since Cuomo repealed on May 10 his order sending CV positive patients to nursing homes and ADL facilities and on a deaths per million population measurement at 672 ranks behind Peru (1014), Belgium (890),Spain (718), Bolivia (717), Brazil (716), Chile (700), and Ecuador (694),  and only slightly worse than Mexico (659), UK (637), Italy (602), and Sweden (584) that never closed its economy down like we did and we have now conducted 1,326,936 more tests to bring total to 122,695.348 tests (now at 370,045/M compared to Russia at 358,196/M so Trump is telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (but excluding nations with small populations like Denmark,  Israel and Singapore) but for the U.K. at 491,721/M).

Non CV Case News: Biden’s Town Hall with George Stephanopoulos was a case of tee ball with total ignorance of the Hunter Biden quid pro quo allegations by the New York Post; Samantha Gutherie of the Normally Based Cack Network could not conceal her bias against Trump prior to allowing members of the town hall to ask questions; the behavior of the FBI gets worse as Red House members raise concerns whether the FBI had the Hunter Biden laptop that supposedly is the sources of the damaging quid pro quo revelations on his and his father’e Ukraine corruption; Jack Dorsey the new face of the censorship Iron Curtain must be scrambling as moves to subpoena move forward, and tries to change policies that let to censorship of the Hunter Biden New York Post  article; Biden reeling under rebukes for his voters don’t deserve to know his views on court packing has now indicated he will inform voters at the 12th hour after the Senate votes on Amy Coney Barrett; in yet another despicable example of the partisan divide, partisan groups are ravaging Senator Feinstein for her complimenting Lindsey Graham for his handling of the Amy Coney Barrett hearings; in another problem like we need a hole in the head, concerns are that Old Faithful which for many, many years has erupted like clockwork may end its eruptions due to drought models that may affect Yellowstone.

Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of October 14  2020, the number of shootings increased to 3,402 of whom 577 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is now 315 behind Chicago at 262 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur much less.

1.  Global Handwashing Day—created by the Global Handwashing Partnership in 2008 to promote the incredible hygiene effects of washing your hands, now more important than ever as a reliable method of killing the COVID-19 virus..

          2.  White Cane Safety Day—created by law enacted on October 6, 1994 authorizing the president to proclaim October 15, as White Cane Safety to promote awareness of the issues faced by the visually challenged and to commemorate their achievements and contributions to society, one of whom, Laura Wolk, the first blind clerk of SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas, testified in favor of Amy Coney Barrett.

           3. 1989 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1989 on a run of 4 weeks  was “Miss You Much” by Janet Jackson joining 31 other number 1 songs. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVF0zcqr9Dg&list=PLc2Q-QN2vLdDQlAkIhI83OwJgXlDN2tTy&index=9&t=0s.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “polemomania” which means a mania for war which sadly seems to describe the increasing feelings of hostility between Reds and Blues.

          5. Peace can Be Just As Dangerous As War--celebrating the birth on this day in 1913 of Wolfgang Luff the second deadliest U-Boat captain with 46 merchant ship sinkings and one French submarine and was rewarded with the appointment after 15 war patrols of the position of Commander of the Murvik Naval Academy where after a night on the town drinking too much commiserating in Germany’s defeat was shot and killed by a sentry to the academy upon his return.

         On this day in:

         a. 1945 the former Premier of Vichy France, Pierre Laval, having fled to Spain and then extradited and after failing in a suicide attempt was executed by a firing squad for treason..

          b. 1956 Fortran the first modern computer programming language was released to the public.

          c. 1966 the Black Panther Party was founded by Huey Newton and Bobby Seale.

          d. 3008 the Dow Jones incurred its second largest drop in history, falling 733.08 and signaling The Great Recession that would doom McCain and pave the way for Obama to take the White House.

          e. 2016 on a good day for the Ozone Layer, 197 nations amended the Montreal Protocol to add the elimination of hydrofluorocarbons.

Reflections on fighting racism: “We've got to face the fact that some people say you fight fire best with fire, but we say you put fire out best with water. We say you don't fight racism with racism. We're gonna fight racism with solidarity.” .Fred Hampton who would be killed in a raid by Chiocago police on December 4, 1969.
