Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For March 13, 2020 President Trump has declared a National Emergency in response to the coronavirus, outlining steps being taken to expand testing for the virus and freeing up billions in aid to state and local governments and indicated that he would be tested shortly for the virus and the markets responded favorably in a big way with the Dow up almost 2,000 points; AOC never slow to let a disaster pass by without the opportunity to blast Trump is claiming that the rich and powerful are getting access to limited amount of testing that has occurred to date while those sick who really need testing have not had access; although packed with some Christmas Tree provisions, Trump urged passage of the anti-coronavirus bill negotiated by Munchin and Pelosi and urged members of both parties to vote for it this evening; China which should rarely be trusted and who is making the preposterous and unbelievable claim that the coronavirus did not appear first in China has been caught with its credibility pants down as a report indicates the first case of the virus in China occurred one month before being reported to the WHO (silver lining is the revelation that China has a near monopoly on antibiotics used in the United States which should be a wake-up call to us to on a crash basis create manufacturing of such drugs here); NBA, NHL, and March Madness have been cancelled and MLB Spring Training has been put on hold and large gatherings like concerts have been banned in California, Amusement Parks like Six Flags are shutting down, Louisiana has postponed its primary elections and 1000 National Guardsmen have been called out to assist in public safety to name just a few actions taking place to fight the spread of the coronavirus; Trump is calling from calm, but panic brawls are breaking out in Georgia and NYC as shoppers confront empty shelves that used to contain hand sanitizers, disinfectants and other needed supplies to have in a virus quarantine (no brawls but saw the same empty shelves at a Trader Joes in Costa Mesa and loss of civility among fearful shoppers; Florida voters must be breathing a sigh of relief that they did not elect scandal plagued Andrew Gillum after he was found in a hotel room inebriated with meth present which he claimed was not used by him but by acquaintances; Jim Acosta continues to show himself as a blithering anti-Trump idiot with his story that Trump was concerned over coming into contact with coronavirus infected people (almost all of us would have the same feelings if we had any sense of self-preservation); in Chicago, as of March 12. 2020, 414 people have been shot of whom 79 have died but none in the last 2 days in what must be a minor miracle; Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths has fallen 23 behind Chicago with 56 murders by shootings (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than random mass shootings?).

c. 1933 banks in the United States started to reopen after a three day bank holiday imposed by FDR’s Emergency Banking Act.
d. 1996 Thomas Hamilton drove to the Dunblane Primary School in Dunblane, Scotland and shot and killed 16 students and 1 teacher while wounding 15 others before taking his own life in the United Kingdom’s deadliest school shooting.
e. 2013 the Cardinal Conclave elected Pope Francis as the 266th Pope of the Catholic Church.
Reflections on being a Good Samaritan: “At times we feel outnumbered in our attempts to improve the world—to brighten and beautify, to preserve and heal and do what’s best for humanity. Selfless efforts can start to feel beleaguering, discouraging, even pointless with so little support. It is at these times I remind myself that I would rather be the last Good Samaritan standing than to join the ranks of selfish multitudes creating misery.”― Richelle E. Goodrich, Making Wishes. Astute and welcome observations.
