Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 6, 2019 Yesterday was a
wakeup call for Trump and the Reds as one of the Reddest states Kentucky elected
a Blue governor with a .4% winning margin and Virginia now has both houses of
it legislature controlled by Blues (God help us but the impeachment witch-hunt
strategy of Pelosi may be working); a heavily armed Mexican in a bullet proof
SUV was arrested as a suspect in the brutal massacre of 9 members of the Mormon
LeBaron Clan that had lived in Mexico for decades; in a refreshing move and a realization
of the insanity of sanctuary cities, Tucson voters rejected sanctuary city
status; it looks like Socialist Kshama Sawant and her minions were rejected by
the voters in the push to make Seattle the Caracas of the north in the race to
retain leftist control of the City Council of Seattle (also a chilling reminder
to politicians bent of killing the golden goose as Amazon’s PAC contributed
almost a million dollars to centrist candidates); voters in Kansas City voted
down the city council’s renaming of its historic boulevard The Paseo Martin
Luther King, Jr. Boulevard; George Stephanopoulos, who is more of a Clinton
hack than a journalist is under the microscope for his possible role in spiking
Amy Robach’s expose on Epstein which ABC lamely asserts was not up to its
standards while the Bobbsey Twins of Fake News, MSNBC and CNN, have devoted not
one second to the story, as the carnage in Chicago continues unabated, reports
are out the Chicago’s top cop will be soon announcing his retirement; in Puerto
Rico which Trump has castigated as a hotbed of corruption, a Puerto Rico
Senator and 7 others have been taken into custody by the FBI for corruption
charges; Trump’s standing with the black community may be improving as Daniel Cameron,
a black Republican, won Kentucky’s AG race and became the first black AG in
that state and the first Republican AG in 70 years; in Chicago as of November 4, 2019, 2383
have been shot, of whom, 409 have died; in Baltimore with a fraction of
Chicago’s population, is coming in second place in the amount of gun deaths as 290
have been murdered (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this
carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear
and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when
will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run
cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than random mass
shootings?
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and

1. Malaria Day in the Americas—created
by the Pan American Sanitary Conference held in 2007 to promote awareness of
the almost 500,000 cases of malaria in the Americas, which numbers are bound to
increase if temperatures rise due to climate change.
2. National Nachos Day—celebrating that great
Tex-Mex snack that traces its origination to a day in October in 1943, when the
wives of ten U.S. soldiers stationed at Fort Duncan in Eagle Pass, Texas,
crossed the border into Piedras Negras, Mexico and stopped in to eat at Club
Victoria; chef Ignacio "Nacho" Anaya threw together a snack to give
them and called it "Nachos Especiales."
3. 1976 Number 1 Number One Song— the
number one song in 1976 on this day on a run of 1 week in the position was “Rock
n’ Me” by the Steve Miller Band. Here is
a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j-IkE5TtO2U. The band with 76 year old Steve Miller still
at its head at 76 is still performing.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “procatalepsis”
which means anticipating and answering an opponent’s objections which is a
great skill to have as a politician or debater.
5. Must Have Been Quite a Cough--celebrating the
birthday on this day in 1994 of Rapper Derek McAlister, better known to his
fans as Speaker Knockerz, who after being missing for three days was found dead
in his home from an apparent heart attack caused by an overdose of codeine
cough syrup on March 6, 2914.
On this day in:
a. 1962
the UN passed a resolution condemning South Africa’s policy of apartheid and
calling member nations to cease military and economic relations with the
nation.
b. 1965 Cuba and the United States entered into an
agreement providing that Cubans wanting to leave the island could be flown out that
by 1971 resulted in the exodus of 250,000 Cubans.
c. 1985
Marxist guerillas of the 19th of April Movement seized control of
the Palace of Justice in Bogota, killing 115 persons, 11 of whom were Supreme
Court Justices.
d. 1998 Australia introduced
the Electric Tilt Train in Queensland which, at 130 miles per hour, is one of
the fastest trains in the world and the faster narrow gauge train.
e. 2012 Tammy Bruce became the
first openly lesbian Senator having been elected to represent Wisconsin and was
reelected in 2018.
Reflections on relation of
malaria to climate: "Many diseases including malaria, dengue,
meningitis - just a few examples - these are what we call climate-sensitive
diseases, because such climate dimensions for rainfall, humidity and temperature
would influence the epidemics, the outbreaks, either directly influencing the
parasites or the mosquitoes that carry them.” Margaret Chan, former Director-General of
the World Health Organization.
