Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For June 12, 2016. Unfortunately still 242 days to go in President Obama’s pathetic lame duck term as this country was rocked by the worst mass shooting in its history in Orlando by Omar Makeen who was calling 911 while killing 50 proclaiming his allegiance to ISIS and yet Obama still cannot proclaim the violence as Radical Islam nor can Hillary but Obama can express his useless outrage and bemoan the lack of gun control. With alpha wolf Sharia and Radical Islam ideology e these are not “lone wolf attacks.” We are at war and we are led by a clueless, feckless, timid commander in chief. How many more scenes to we have to endure before the Obama presidency leaves office to be relegated to the trash bin of history? I trust your Sunday while not great due to Orlando finds you closer to your faith. As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Roberta Flack, factoids of interest, a relevant quote from District Court Judge George O’Toole while looking forward to enjoying a slice of glazed ham, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. On this day in:

b. 1939 Paramount Pictures began filming Dr. Cyclops, the first horror movie filmed in Technicolor.
c. 1972 Popeye’s Louisiana Fried Chicken, famous today for its $1.49 leg and thigh special on Tuesdays, was founded in Arabi, Louisiana.
d. 1987 in a classic example of a strong commander in chief as opposed to what we have today once again exposed by the tragic events in Orlando, President Ronald Reagan in for the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin challenged Mikhail Gorbachev to “tear down that wall.”
e. 1994 Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were murdered outside her home in Brentwood; O.J. Simpson was arrested but acquitted in the resulting criminal trial.
Reflections on the scourge of child labor: “Child labor and poverty are inevitably bound together and if you continue to use the labor of children as the treatment for the social disease of poverty, you will have both poverty and child labor to the end of time. Grace Abbott, noted 20th Century American crusader for children’s welfare and opponent of child labor. In a world where education is critical to eliminate poverty, it is pretty basic that if put in a child’s hands unskilled tools, that child will not be in school and doomed to a life of poverty.
