Ridley’s Believe It Or Not—March 14, 2015 Trust you survived any fears emanating from Friday the 13th and your weekend is off to a great start. In the lead after leaving the Huslia checkpoint on the Yukon 478 miles from the start with a 43 minute lead over Mitch Seavey is Aliy Zirkle. DeeDee Jenrove, the youthful 61 year old who has raced the Iditarod 33 times has dropped back to eleventh and Cindy Abbott has climbed up to 73rd. Check out the Motel 6 accommodations for the dogs at the Huslia checkpoint; no TV but the straw looks very pleasing after a day of pulling a sled.
As always, I hope you enjoy the holidays and observances, factoids of interest and a relevant quote from Frank Borman, enjoying a some potato chips, blessed with a positive attitude even though you know you will have to wade through tons of spam in your inbox, and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable event like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

Reflections on Earth from a lunar perspective being a Good Samaritan: “When you are finally up on the moon, looking back at the earth, all these differences and nationalistic traits are pretty well going to blend and you are going to get a concept that maybe this really is one world and why in hell can we not learn to live together like decent people.” Frank Borman Astute words but not listened to by large segments of the Earth’s population.
