December 3, 2018 Ridley's Believe It Or Not International Day of Persons With Disabilities

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For December 3, 2018 Air Force One has picked up the casket carrying the body of George H.W. Bush to deliver it along with his comfort dog Sully and members of the Bush family to the Capitol to lie in state with the nation observing a National Day of Mourning on Wednesday; on the Mueller witch-hunt front Bob Corsi has directed his counsel to file a criminal complaint against Mueller for bullying him to give false testimony against Trump (when will this biased farce end created by a colluded false anti-Trump dossier while the Clintons once again have dodged the bullet); news flash to Meryl Streep--time to your scripts and acting keep as she sounds the clarion call that we should be afraid now that Trump’s children are in danger with the Mueller probe; a member of the Los Altos City Planning Commission was pulled over in his Tesla for motoring while passed out on a freeway with the autopilot steering the car and finally arrested when the CHP got in front of the car and then slowed bringing it to a stop; Trump was in the news extolling an upcoming agreement with China that will cause them to purchase vast quantities of agricultural products; the Clintons have postponed their failing tour scheduled tomorrow for Houston out of respect for President George H.W. Bush (anyone who would pay $177 to listen to this failed duo should have their head examined); Emanuel’s announcement that he will not seek reelection has not curbed the gun violence as through December 2, 2018, 2771 people mostly of color have been shot by mostly people of color, of whom 467 have died (when will Chicago get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of mostly people of color by mostly people of color).
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Supremes, factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that your actions and words are free from nugament and a relevant quote from a grieving survivor of the Bhopal disaster, secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

3. 1965 Number One Song— the number one song in 1965 on a run of 2 weeks in that position was “I Hear A Symphony” by the Surpremes. Here is a recording of the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcylDkRw7dg
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we moved from words beginning with “m” to words beginning with “n” is “nugament” which means nonsense which describes too often the output of the Swamp to a tee.
5. Splash with Fury--celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of noted actress and environmentalist Daryl Hannah who starred in Splash and Steel Magnolias.
    On this day in:
a. 1964 police arrested over 800 students who had occupied the Administration Building at the Cal University Berkeley campus in protest of the Board of Regentslu72 Press Secretary Ron Ziegler announced that since troop levels in South Vietnam had fallen to 27,000, there would be no more public announcements of further troop reductions there..
b. 1982 a soil sample was taken from Times Beach, Missouri which revealed contamination at 300 times the permitted levels of dioxin.
c. 1984 a leak of methyl isocynate from a Union Carbide pesticide plant in Bhopal, India killed almost 4,000 people and injured from 150,000-600,000 people making it one of the worst industrial pollution disasters in history.
d. 1994 the Play Station developed by SONY was released in Japan.
e. 1997 representatives of 121 nations signed the Ottawa Agreement prohibiting the manufacture and deployment of anti-personnel mines, an agreement which Russia, China and the United States did not sign.
Reflections on the Bhopal disaster from a survivor whose family members did not survive: "If they had [sounded the sirens] before or just after the gas leaked out, we would have known what to do," said one survivor. "We'd at least have had a chance to run. I lost my wife and two sons only because they didn't warn us. These people are criminals, butchers, worse than murderers."      Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
