Ridley’s Believe It Or Not September 7, 2021
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on an increasing basis with cases now over 222 million at 222,597,604 cases; 18,859,560 of which are active, 203,738,044 closed with 199,140,814 recoveries (97.74% and 97.74% yesterday, and 4,597,230 deaths (2.26% and 2.26% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 41 million at 41,101,300 with 8,953,025 active cases of which 25,530 are serious or critical, (8,599 on 3/25/2021) (first down tick from the serious upswing due to Delta virus to .285 % of active cases and to increase the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 3,741, 32,148,275 closed, with 668,112 deaths (2.08%) and with 31,480,163 recoveries (97.92%). Our death rate percentage is now .18% lower than the world’s death rate.
Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady but slow climb to 2005 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5924) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.26% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to 3.77% of its closed cases have died (3123), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2798), Brazil (2725) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Argentina (2470), Columbia newly added to the list (2433), Belgium (2182), Italy (2148), Mexico (2018), Poland (1995), and slightly better than the UK which we just passed on the 18th (1954), Chile (1922), Romania (1819), Spain(1819), Ecuador newly added to list (1802), France (1760), Portugal (1753), Bolivia (1561), Sweden (1441) that never closed its economy down like we did, and Switzerland (1261).
Tests: We have now conducted 596,477,346 tests (1,789,642/M) just passed by France at 1,975,702 who is now 1st on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 4,069,647/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which has been passed by Argentina and newly added Columbia but passed the UK to move up to 9th on my list of deaths from the pandemic at 2018/M with a fatality rate of 8.65% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
Guatemala: Active Cases: 47,647 Deaths/M 677
Honduras: Active Cases: 229,490 Deaths/M 900
El Salvador: Active cases: 11,751 Deaths/M 455
US Vaccinations: As of 9/7/2021 376.0 million doses, .826 million per day (down to 4 months to go for 75% of population vaccinated) and in California 93,667 per day (which means if the rate does not increase it will take us still some 3 months to have 75% of the population of California vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who may believe that 90% is required). In California 48,668,051 total doses have been given (86.7% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 83.7%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California has moved up to 10th tied with Minnesota of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 56.6% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 53.2% and has moved down up to 15th place tied with Minnesota as a percentage of the population fully vaccinated. A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non CV News: Biden was trying to act presidential while touring Ida ravaged New Jersey and was heckled by protestors over his Afghanistan withdrawal disaster but dismissed them as they don’t understand and were not from the area and were there to protest his moves on climate change (only a mind so damaged by dementia would not be able to see the object of their wrath had nothing to do with climate change but the fact that Biden cut and ran and left Americans and their allies behind); to compound problems we do not need Afghanistan ranks 7th in terms of measles cases which make the speed of COVID-19 infections look like they are in replay slow motion compared to fast forwarding of measles and 1 case at Fort McCoy which is receiving Afghanistan refugees has been discovered (the vetting of Afghans is coming into question of whether it is occurring and if so how effective and reports are coming in of Afghans walking off of bases where they are being housed; Mexio was hit with a 7.0 earthquake 10 miles from Acapulco which was felt 200 miles away in Mexico City and so far no reports of injuries or deaths; in a typical Obama/Biden ill-conceived move when they exchanged 5 Taliban terrorist for deserter Beau Bergdahl, 4 of the 5 Taliban terrorists are now in senior roles in the government established by the Taliban in Afghanistan; in tragic news former Afghan Vet Kyle Van de Water, who had unsuccessfully run against Blue Rep Antonio Delgado and was considering a second attempt, was found dead in a Poughkeepsie Cemetery in an apparent suicide (one can only wonder how many of our vets who served one or more tours in that country feeling that after seeing Biden cut and run they had wasted their lives and so depressed commit suicide?); looks like Denver is aping Feces City as it is temporarily closing its Civic Center Park because of human waste and used needles and violent crime (would suggest the Denver leaders not look to Soros backed D.A. Chesa Boudin; Boeing Board of Directors members are probably reviewing the company’s D&O insurance as a Delaware Chancery judge has ruled that a suit against the Board for its failure to act to prevent the two Boeing 737 Max crashes that killed all on board may proceed; in the Brittany Spears conservatorship saga Jamie Spears a co-conservator has filed a petition to end the conservatorship; with Harris and Biden coming to California to campaign against recall and MSM and Big Tech CEO’s joining leave it to a political cartoonist to portray Larry Elder as David facing a desperate Goliath: Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through September 6, 2021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 3173 persons shot of whom 539 have died.

1. Telephone Tuesday Observed—enacted since 2015 to commemorate that calls to small business peak on the Tuesday after Labor Day which may help cool the anger of long wait times or result in people trying resolve their issues online.
2. Google Commemoration Day—celebrating the incorporation of Google by Larry Page and Sergery Brin on this day in 1998 which has grown into a monopolistic force in the search business and looks like it will be on the defendant end of another antitrust suit in the very near future by the DOJ.
3. 2001 Number 1 Song USA—the number 1 song in 2001 on this day was “I’m Real (Murder Remix)” by Jennifer Lopez feat Ja Rule on a run of 3 weeks in that position to join 14 other songs that achieved number 1 status and join 11 acts who achieved their first number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. Here is a music video of “I’m Real (Murder Remix)” by Jennifer Lopez feat. Ja Rule: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sjx9oSJDAVQ Jennifer is going strong at age 54 as a true triple threat entertainer—dancer, singer and actress and also known for some high profile dating with A-Rod and Ben Affleck whose dating with her has resumed after a long hiatus. Ja Rule is a rapper, song writer and singer who has served time in prison for illegal firearms possession and tax evasion and has sold some 14 million records.
4. Word of the Day—the word of the day is “sententia” which means an aphorism are sometimes most useful in getting a point which should not be debated across.
5. Puff the Wayward Dragon—celebrating the birth on this day in 1953 of Mark Hunter the lead vocalist of the New Zealand band Dragon formed by this older brother; the band had early success but struggled with drug use by several members including Mark who unfortunately was a heavy smoker in addition to heroin use and after getting a second diagnosis after a finding of tonsillitis received a second opinion in November of 1997 that he had a very large throat cancer that killed him on July 17, 1998.
On this day in:
a. 1963 in Canton, Ohio, the Pro Football Hall of Fame opened with 17 members, including Stanford great Ernie Nevers (aka “Big Dog”) who still holds the record of the most points scored by a single player 40 playing for the Chicago Cardinals against the Chicago Bears and the record of six rushing touchdowns achieved in the same game and finally tied by Alvin Kamara of the New Orleans Saints against the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day, 2020 wearing his red on one foot and green on the other “Christmas shoes”.
b. 1977 the U.S. and Panama signed the Carter-Torrijos Treaties that gave the U.S. the right to defend the Panama Canal against any threats to neutral shipping through the Panama Canal and provided for the transfer of the Canal and the Canal Zone to Panama on December 31. 1999.
c. 1996 rapper Tupac Shakur was shot several times in a drive by shooting in Las Vegas and died 6 days later.
d. 2008 as the U.S. financial markets were on the verge of collapse, the U.S. Government took over the two largest real estate financing organizations, Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae.
e. 2017 Equifax disclosed a cyber security attack that hacked into records of 145 ½ million credit accounts.
Reflections on Google: “If it’s not on Google, it doesn’t exist.” Jimmy Wales, internet entrepreneur and co-founder of Wikipedia. Wales is right on point which explains why conservatives are so outraged over the censorship encountered at Google, Twitter and Facebook.
