Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For May 9, 2020 The CV pandemic across the planet crosses the 4,000,000 mark in cases with 97,209 new cases (a 2.43% increase compared to a 3% increase yesterday) to bring the total to 4,095,129 cases,2,383,840 of which are active, 1,711,289 of which have been closed with 1,431,202 recoveries (83.63% compared to yesterday’s 83.33%) and 280,087 deaths (16.37% compared to yesterday’s 16.67%); in the U.S. which has the dubious distinction of leading the world in total cases`with new cases of 28,786 have brought total cases to 1,344,683 (a 2.19% increase compared to yesterday’s 4.89% increase) with 1,027,958 active cases and 316,725 closures, 79,960 of which have been deaths (25.25% compared to yesterday’s 26.08%) and 236,765 of which have been recoveries (74.75% compared to yesterday’s 73.9%), while total testing has increased to 8,888,330, an increase of 324,153 from yesterday; Obama has surfaced once more on the political scene charging the dismal of charges agains Flynn represent a grave departure from the rule of law (you have to admire him for keeping a straight face given his wiretapping of Flynn and the FBI’s grave prosecutorial misconduct and his mischaracterization of Flynn being charged with perjury when he was not); Obama also slammed Trump for his response on the pandemic, calling it misguided and a disaster and blaming Trump for the divide in this country (looks like Obama no longer watches MSM’s 24/7 TDS rants or the rabid resist movement at all costs in the Blues and Hidin’ Biden may be jumping for joy in his basement as Obama promised to do everything it takes to propel Biden to a win); Gruesome Newsom who can’t be trusted to do a reputable mask deal has opened the floodgates of voter harvesting fraud by announcing he will be sending mail in ballots to all Californians; Pelosi has reverted back to her ripping up the SOUS by telling a reporter to not waste her time on what Trump says (control your hate Nancy, it makes you look like an idiot); on the CV good news front 99 year old 2 time Purple Heart WWII Marine Max deWeese has successfully recovered from COVID-19 (Semper Fi and Oorah Max)) and Angelina Friedman, 102 years old and a survivor of the Spanish Flu, has recovered from the CV; Little Richard a rock and roll icon, best known for such songs as “Good Golly Miss Molly” and Tutti Frutti, has died at 87; Elon Musk, frustrated by Alameda County’s refusal to allow him to reopen Tesla’s Fremont plant with 10,000 jobs has sued the county and is threatened to move production out of California (facing a multi-billion dollar deficit California needs that like a hole in the head); Reds are up in arms over Blues opening up one in person voting site in Tuesday’s special election in California to fill the seat vacated by Blue Katie Hill for her sexual indiscretions as they claim mail in ballots were favoring the Red candidate; in Chicago, as of May 7, 2020, 861 shootings of whom 162 have died (so much for the effectiveness of Chicago’s stay at home order); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths is now 58 behind Chicago with 104 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than random mass shootings?).

Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Drive—celebrated since 1991 on the second Saturday in May as a day in which letter carriers pick up nonperishable food left near mail boxes and at post offices and then deliver to food banks but even though with 33 million Americans now jobless and needing help more than ever sadly postponed due to fears of infection from the COVID-19 virus.
3. 2006 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 2006 on this day on a run of 5 weeks in the position “Bad Day” by Daniel Powter. 4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “ostreophagous” which means oyster eating which is a great way to start a meal once our seafood restaurants open again.
5. 20 10 and Loyal to the Core—celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of MLB player for the San Diego Padres of Tony Gwynn who in addition to being 1 of the all time batting average leaders spent his entire 19 year career with 1 team but sadly used chewing tobacco since his rookie season and came down with cancer of the saliva glands which he fought since its diagnosis in 2014 until his death on June 16, at the too early age of 54.

Reflections on the state of TV programming: “When television is good, nothing - not the theater, not the magazines or newspapers - nothing is better. But when television is bad, nothing is worse. I invite each of you to sit down in front of your television set when your station goes on the air and stay there for a day without a book, without a magazine, without a newspaper, without a profit and loss sheet or a rating book to distract you. Keep your eyes glued to that set until the station signs off. I can assure you that what you will observe is a vast wasteland.” Newton Minnow, former FCC Chairman
