May 25, 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Memorial Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For May 25, 2020 The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 98,672  new cases  (a 1.81%  increase compared to a 2.37% increase yesterday) to bring the total to 5,563,260   cases, 2,881,790  of  which  are active, 2,681,470  of which have been closed with 2,334,790  recoveries (87.07% compared to  yesterday’s 86.68%) and 346,680   deaths (12.81% compared to yesterday’s 13.32%); in the U.S. which has the dubious distinction of leading the world in total cases with new cases of 24,081  have brought total cases to 1,700,541 (a 1.44% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.89% increase)  with 1,143,625 active cases and 556,916   closures, 99,684  of which have been deaths (17.9% compared to  yesterday’s 18.14%) and 457,232 of which  have been recoveries (82.1%  compared to yesterday’s 81.87%) (our death rate percentages continue to improve since Cuomo repealed his order sending CV positive patients on May 10 but remain higher than the world probably due to idiots like Cuomo sending positive CV patients into nursing homes to infect the residents and staff who then die) while total testing has increased to 15,187,647; with scorching temperatures celebrants of Memorial Day put lock downs and social distancing at bay and flocked to the water in boats and bars and restaurants that were opening up:

Elizabeth Warren who ran on a promise of not seeking donations from large contributors has heard the siren song of being a candidate for VP on Biden’s ticket and has announced a fundraiser for him from large donors; Hidin’ Biden left his basement bunker to appear a Delaware War Memorial to lay a wreath while he and Jill were wearing masks but not taking any questions (their handlers must have sighed a huge sigh of relief); Gavin seeing the reality of a huge budget deficit that will crimp his aid to illegals is loosening up shutdown requirements on restaurants and allowing churches to reopen if they get county health approvals and limit attendance to 25% of capacity or 100 whichever is less; Ilhan Omar has indicated that she believes Tara Reade and believes that Biden should not be the Democratic nominee but has not indicated whether she will put her money where her mouth is and not vote for him; weather permitting Astronauts Hurley and Behnken on Wednesday will climb into a White Tesla Model X and be driven 9 miles to an awaiting white SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket to board a Falcon Dragon capsule to be launched into space to rendezvous with the International Space Station; in Chicago, as of May 24, 2020, 1026 shootings of whom 186 have died (so much for the effectiveness of Chicago’s stay at home order); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths is now 68 behind Chicago with 118 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which have been more deadly and more numerous than random mass shootings?).

1. Memorial Day—first celebrated as Decoration Day in a growing number of towns in the 1860’s after the end of the Civil War to honor those members of the military that had died while in uniform to become a federal holiday in 1971 and celebrated on the last day in May.
2. Missing Children’s Day—created by proclamation by President Reagan on this day in 1983 due to the efforts of Etan Patz’s father following his abduction of on this day in 1979 and his efforts to promote awareness of the problem of childhood abductions.
3. 2020 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 2020 on this day on a run of 1 weeks in the position was “Stuck with You” by Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber. Here is a recording of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pE49WK-oNjU These two talented performers both seem to have anxiety and depression issues but Bieber seems to have grown out of his earlier brushes with the law.
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day is “pacable” which means willing to forgive which is a great trait to possess.
5. Number Two Can Become Number One--celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of the Senior Senator from Minnesota Amy Klobuchar who ran without success in the Democratic Presidential Primaries but has been mentioned and undergone vetting to be a potential vice president with Joe Biden (wonder how she is handling the #MeTooMovement given Tara Reade’s allegations against Biden.
