Ridley’s
Believe It Or Not For July 9, 2019 The chief snake in the House, Nadler the
toxic Adler, is set to issue a slew of 12 subpoenas to harass Trump associates
ahead of Mueller’s testimony to the House; Eric Swalwell who had no plausible
ideas and no money has dropped out to be replaced by another leftist with no
ideas but sadly with a ton of money, Tom Steyer hell bent on a mission to
destroy Trump at the ballot box as opposed to the impeachment route; a 2018
failed Blue House candidate, former Marine aviator Amy McGrath, has announced her candidacy against Mitch
McConnell; in another example of the left gone totally violent in their Trump
Derangement Syndrome, former Florida State Gator Linebacker Doug Weldon was
unsuccessfully attacked by a small mob of leftists because he was wearing a
MAGA hat and Trump pin on the 4th; in an example of a growing Blexit
movement Black Entertainment Television founder Roger Johnson has praised Trump
and voiced his opinion that the Blues have become far to liberal (loss of
lockstep black votes in 2020 is causing major hysteria among Blues as they
cannot win without overwhelming majorities of blacks voting Blue; in another example
of the fact that the bloom is off the rose on the Bill and Hillary fascination,
the Broadway Play Hillary and Clinton has
bombed on Broadway in a Wisconsin and Pennsylvania déjà vu of 2016 and will
close its doors; after conservatives have raged rightfully so over shadow
banning of conservatives by Facebook and Twitter, Trump was treated to his own
medicine by the 2nd Circuit who held that Trump could not censor
from his twitter accounts tweets from people disagreeing with him or block their
access to read his tweets (court was right, as censorship on social media is an
evil to be avoided at all costs); the troika of leftist views Harris,
Gillibrand and Klubacher have jumped all over the news of Epstein’s arrest
demanding that the District Attorney who entered into the sweetheart plea deal
with him as is now the Secretary of Labor should resign (plea deal was most
likely a mistake but should not give rise to a demand for resignation); we all
know that having a picnic can attract a steady stream of ants but in the Philippines
it attracted a slew of cocaine bricks that washed ashore worth $1.8 million;
the presidential candidate who was all ears, Ross Perot, has died today at age
89; through July 7, 2019, 1349 people have been shot in Chicago of whom 239
have died (what makes the Smollett case so frustrating and why the appointment of
a special prosecutor should be applauded, is that it forced the city of Chicago to
allocate scarce detective resources when in only 9% of the shootings resulting
in murder has a suspect being charged this year and where is the outrage over
mostly blacks shooting and killing mostly blacks?).
1. National
No Bra Day—not sure where or when this came from but suspect men were
behind it and Victoria Secrets was definitely opposed to it.
2. Martyrdom
of the Bab Day—celebrated on this day by members of the Baha’i Faith to
commemorate the Martyrdom of the Bab, which marks the 1850 execution in Persia
of one of the founders of their faith.
3. 1966
Number One Song—the number one song on this day in 1966 with 1 week in that
position was “Paperback Writer” by The Beatles. Here is a recording of the song:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYvkICbTZIQ.
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with “o”
to words beginning with “p” is “phatic” which means hypocritical which means
using speech to communicate feelings which diplomats and politicians are
skilled to avoiding to achieve their goals with adversaries or voters.
5. Swim
Softly with the Sharks Is the Key--celebrating the birth on
this day in 1954 of Kevin O’Leary founder of Soft Key which was acquired by
Mattel and a participant on the Shark
Tank that provides a platform for entrepreneurs to seek early stage
funding.
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to The
Beatles, 5 factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that you
are able to be phatic in your dealings with people, a quote by Williams Jenning
Bryan from his “Cross of Gold Speech,”

On
this day
in:
a. 1893 Danial Hale
Williams performed the first successful open heart surgery without anesthesia,
a feat which is mind boggling and must have been accomplished in record time
given the pain and shock.
b. 1896 William
Jennings Bryan delivered his “Cross of Gold Speech” at the Chicago Democratic
Party Convention.
c. 1937 the silent film
archives of 20th Century Fox were destroyed in a fire that consumed
the vault housing such films. 41.22.
d. 1958 a large strike slip earthquake in Alaska produced
a landslide that produced a megatsunami that produced a tidal wave of 525 feet high
up a surrounding hillside, the highest in recorded history and killed 5 people
in Lituya Bay.
e. 1986 New Zealand Homosexual
Reform Act legalizing homosexuality in the country.
Reflections on the crucifixion
by gold: “If they dare to come out in
the open field and defend the gold standard as a good thing, we will fight them
to the uttermost. Having behind us the producing masses of this nation and the
world, supported by the commercial interests, the laboring interests, and the
toilers everywhere, we will answer their demand for a gold standard by saying
to them: You shall not press down upon the brow of labor this crown of thorns,
you shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold.” Williams Jennings
Bryan Cross of Gold Speech.
