Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For July 26, 2017 McCain is a true patriot and facing a real death sentence
but he flew to the Swamp to vote to move the repeal Obamacare to a vote while
rabid ideologues masquerading as Senators like Harris with her fellow ideologues
en bloc voted no (when will Schumer look through better prescription glasses
and see that Americans are totally fed up with the Blues’ obstruction and
subversion of this president and his agenda to bring back posterity); in the
first vote on replacing Obamacare, the Senate voted nay (hopefully the
amendments that may be offered will result in the passage of a bill to repeal a
law that is killing any chance of sustained economic growth); the agenda from
Trump of job creation is still being sidelined by the Russian collusion
delusion and the media hype over his displeasure of Sessions (flash to Trump stifle
it HRC will still be around as a target for criminal prosecution) and by
another self inflicted Trump distraction—his banning transgenders from serving
in the military; an IT staffer for Debbie Wasserman Schultz under criminal
investigation was nabbed trying to flee the country; Burt Weinstein a professor
at “Ever Left University” in Washington has filed a $3.8 million suit against
the “university” after being attacked by a mob of radicals for his condemnation
of whites only (time for the PC wimps on college administrations to ruthlessly
crack down on the assault of free speech by the left); news out of the dangers
of riding BART and being attacked by black thugs as BART under the cloak of political
correctness will not release videos showing really violent attacks (God help
those riders who do not have a firearm to shoot down these dogs); really
chilling news that North Korea may be a year or less from having the ability to
launching ICBMs with nuclear warheads reaching the U.S. (sanctions and
diplomacy have not worked and China will not assist in shutting down this rogue
regime—when do we give the ultimatum and level North Korea with nukes?); through
July 25, 2129 people have been shot in Chicago 373 of whom have died (sadly the
ATF agents Trump has sent has not put a damper on the carnage).
As always,
I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to Bryan
Adams; factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote by Senator
Tammy Duckworth on the ADA, hoping you’re the Blues will stop intercluding the
Trump agenda, secure
in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events
like weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide

1.
One Voice Day—celebrated
since 1997 by reading at 6:00 p.m. a 577 word document which is a pledge to
bring families and societies together regardless of creed, race or religion in
the spirit of peace A noble goal which
as we look at the world today is not coming close to being achieved.
2. National
All or Nothing Day—celebrating a day to stop just putting the toe in the water to
throw reservation and caution to the wind and just do it whatever it might be
(legal of course) whether it is sky diving, a new relationship or finally
publishing that manuscript.
3. 1991 Number One Song—the number one song in
1991 on a run of 7 weeks in that position was “(Everything I Do) I Do It
For You” by Bryan Adams. Here is a performance by him of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZGoWtY_h4xo
4. Word
of the Day—today’s word of the day is “interclude” which means to block or
cut off which when it comes to any rational discussion of pressing issues
facing this nation the Blues in the Senate practice 24/7.
5. No
Satisfaction in Economics—celebrating the birth on this day in
1943 of rock legend Mick Jagger who fortunately for music fans left the London
School of Economics to form the Rolling Stones. Still going strong with 8
children from 5 women, the last of whom was born in December of last year and
in addition to all his musical awards can claim being a Knight.
On this day in:
a. 1975 the United
States Post Office was established with Benjamin Franklin as the Postmaster
General; given the losses the USPS is running up and the scandal of its union
members violating the Hatch Act to actively campaign for Hillary Clinton, poor Ben
must be rolling in his grave.
b. 1908 the Attorney
General Charles Bonaparte issued an order to staff the Office of Chief Examiner
(later renamed the Federal Bureau of Investigation).
c. 1948 President Harry
S. Truman signed Executive Order 9981 which desegregated the U.S. Armed Forces
(ironic today Trump indicated that no transgender may serve in the U.S. Armed
Forces).
d. 1990 the Americans
with Disabilities Act was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush.
e. 2016 Hillary Clinton
became the first woman to be nominated by a major political party to run for
the presidency only to run perhaps the worst campaign in modern times and go
down in flames but still blaming the DNC, the Russians, WikiLeaks, and the FBI
for her loss.
Reflections on the ADA’s contributions to the lives of the disabled:
“The ADA is essential in helping me overcome the
obstacles I face as a Wounded Warrior and empowers me to assist other veterans.
It allows me to be physically active, have my pilot's license, and serve in
Congress.” Tammy Duckworth the Blue Junior Senator from Illinois and double
amputee from the Iraqi War. Proof positive that while disabilities may be physical
as the result of injury, the most serious disability is one’s state of mind in facing
challenges that must be overcome. Please
