Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For December 1, 2016 Trump is not even president yet and already he’s making America great again, after announcing Carrier had reached an agreement with Trump and Pence to keep close to 1,000 jobs in Indiana as opposed to moving to Mexico Trump is off to Indiana to meet with the workers at the Carrier plant in Indiana then off to Cincinnati for the start of his “Thank You America Tour” (wonder if the “only adult in the room” MIA Governor Kasich will meet with him or be on stage); in yet another example of the dangers facing police a Tacoma police officer was shot and killed responding to a domestic disturbance call in Tacoma which resulted in a barricade and ultimate killing of the husband involved after he took his two children hostage; Mark Wahlberg star of the upcoming movie Patriot’s Day made the astute observation as celebrities in Hollywood and New York are slamming Trump’s win that no one between the coasts listen to what these idiots have to say (I would have added even a lot of people on the coasts feel the same way—playing a character with a good script is no substitute for intelligence, common sense, experience and ethics; here’s a news flash to Tom Ford a designer who announced he would not design a dress for our future First Lady because his creations are too expensive—lower your price!; the jet plane that was carrying a soccer team and crashed evidently ran out of fuel (how could that happen?); in the same way the Germans in World War I complained that having Austria-Hungary as an ally was like being tied to a corpse, the Blues to the great delight of the Reds reelected Nancy Pelosi as their Minority Leader; on the economic front the Trump Rally is rolling forward on all cylinders.

1. World AIDS Day (International)—commemorating since 1988 the need to create awareness on the spread of the pandemic AIDS caused by the HIV virus and to mourn the millions who have died from it. If you see someone wearing a red ribbon today that person is observing World Aids Day.

4. National Red Apple Day—celebrating another great way to keep the doctor away especially when they seem always to be a low price of 99 cents a pound. 

5. The Divine Miss Me—celebrating the birth on this day in 1945 of noted actress and singer Bette Milder.

a. 1824 since none of the four candidates running received a majority of the Electoral College votes, the election of the president pursuant to the Twelfth Amendment for the first and only time was given to the House which elected John Quincy Adams.

b. 1913 Ford Motor Company introduced the first moving assembly line for the production of its cars.       

c. 1955 in one of the landmark events of the Civil Rights Movement on this day in 1955 Rosa Parks in Montgomery, Alabama refuse to vacate her seat to a white man and move the back of the bus as required by the Jim Crow laws in effect and that time and was arrested prompting the Montgomery Bus Boycott and the struggle to dismantle Jim Crow.

d. 1969 the first draft lottery since World War II was held in the United States.  

e. 1990 Channel Tunnel sections starting from France and England meet together 40 meters under the seabed of the English Channel and are joined.  

Reflections on AIDS from someone who was in the hospital needing a transfusion at the wrong place and wrong time and received HIV infected blood: “AIDS can destroy a family if you let it, but luckily for my sister and me, Mom taught us to keep going. Don't give up, be proud of who you are, and never feel sorry for yourself.” Ryan White, a very brave teenager who contracted AIDS and fought it with every ounce of his being only to die at the age of 18.
