November 30, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Methamphetamine Awareness Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 30, 2016 Trump is not even president yet and already he’s making America great again, announcing Carrier had reached an agreement Trump and Pence to keep close to 1,000 jobs in Indiana as opposed to moving to Mexico; the seeds of the destruction of Obama’s cherished legacy were planted by his selection of a potential felon and a total incompetent as his two Secretaries of State which makes one wonder whether history is repeating itself with the possible consideration of Romney ( would have liked to have been at the dinner table tonight with Trump, Romney and Priebus; Obamacare’s long term nemesis Representative Price will be nominated to run DHS and his campaign finance chief Mnuchin will be nominated as Secretary of the Treasury; Chao wife of Senate Majority Leader McConnell will head up the Department of Transportation (talk about a way cement cooperation with the Senate); in another example of sanctuary city lawlessness, New York City is seriously considering erasing residence data on the municipal ID cards it has issued to illegal aliens (the large metropolitan cities that have flouted and obstructed federal law should realize there is a new sheriff in town and they run a great risk of losing federal funds if they continue this nonsense); in a what took you so long moment China appears ready to come on board to support further UN sanctions against North Korea’s exports of coal (great opportunity for Trump to remove any executive orders banning or restrict U.S. coal exports and start exporting to China); Muslims of America an Islamist organization that operates 23 Muslim communities in rural areas across the nation has ordered all of its unarmed residents to start arming themselves; in a surprise move going against the trend of replacing checkers with self checkout stations, Albertsons is eliminating is self check out stations; on the energy independence front the cost of producing oil from our massive shale reserves continues to fall which may signal the end of OPEC’s power to dominate the market.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances,  music links to Dinah Shore and Michael Jackson, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from the Alaskanpoet, while looking forward to enjoying a serving of mousse (killer recipe for a pumpkin mousse one below), blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. 1. Cities of Life Day (International)—commemorating the abolition of the death penalty in 1786 by the Duchy of Tuscany, the first jurisdiction to do so and now followed by 141 countries either by law or on a de facto basis (wonder when the U.S. bans the practice and replaces it with life without possibility of parole).
2. National Methamphetamine Awareness Day—proclaimed by President Bush in 2006 to promote awareness of the dangers of this highly addictive drug that destroys the enamel of your teeth, ages your body and destroys large areas of your brain.

e. 1998 Exxon and Mobil Oil signed a $73.7 billion agreement to merge, creating the world’s largest company.
Reflections on crystal meth use: "Crystal meth use is the road to nowhere strewn with ruts,  pot holes, wrecked and abandoned cars, littered with the trash of failed dreams and broken families—not a great destination and not a lot of good scenery to enjoy.” Alaskanpoet   Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 29, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Giving Tuesday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 29, 2016 Do not want to rush to judgment but at first glance with respect to Abdul Arian’s attempt to kill on OSU looks like a typical Obama failure to vet radical Islamists from reaching our shores (wake up call to Blues—this is one of the reasons why you lost and will continue to lose until radical Islam is named, targeted and destroyed); the bait and switch scam of Jill Stein and her Green Party will not change the election but will add to her party’s coffers;  in another classic example of media hypocrisy President-elect Trump is being slammed for supporting the criminalization of flag burning, the same act if the burning incited violence that then Senator Hillary Clinton co-sponsored back in 2005; the left wing celebrities in Hollywood continue to heap praise on Fidel Castro; Cyber Monday was for retailers a huge success with on line shoppers spending $3.45 billion on Monday contrasted to a little over $100 donated to charities ; California is now waging a war of methane emissions from cows with costly regulations to reduce the methane from bovine belches, gas and manure (do not be surprised if dairies start leaving the state in droves and the price of milk going  up);  on the sports front a Brazilian soccer team going to Columbia to play in the finals was decimated when their chartered plane crashed, killing 75 people on board (in a display of sportsmanship the team they were going to play asked that the trophy be awarded to the Brazilian team.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Francis Craig, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from Emily Thomas, while looking forward to enjoying a slice of lemon crème pie (killer recipe for interesting frozen one below), blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

2. National Throw Out Your Leftovers  Day—celebrating the need to toss those five day old Thanksgiving leftovers which even if in the fridge from right after the Thanksgiving meal are still now probably teaming with bacteria.
3. 1947 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1947 on a long run of 12 weeks in that position “Near You” by Francis Craig.  Here is a recording of Francis Craig performing the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbZLpAMnclQ

a. 1887 Thomas Edison demonstrated the phonograph for the first time.

"Vetted" Somali Wounds 9 Buckeyes

Once again we have been reminded on why the Obama clone lost
Opening up our nation to unvetted refugees brings with it too great a cost
An 18 year old refugee from Somali copycats Nice  with a car
Tries to mow OSU students down crashes before going very far
As students rush to see if he is injured after the crash
Abdul jumps out to stab and slash
9 students are wounded before this fanatic is shot dead
When will this idea that we have been vetting Somalian and Syrian refugees be shed?
Here is a fact that even the golfer in chief should be able to understand
A promise by him that refugees will be thoroughly vetted so they should not be banned
Is as worthless as a wet scorecard exposed to a rainy day
As a reliable way to be able to you to be able to your golf score display
This promise is worse than Obama’s mantra of “if you like your health plan you can keep it”
As Abdul just proved when the feds lie by unvetted young Somalis they admit
Then compound the error by making him a permanent resident
All sense of common sense and competency out the window went
We all are at risk of being maimed or facing death
People voted for Trump or against Hillary for many reasons but this one I suspect even the left cannot ignore
Fearful of the dangers posed by jihadist refugees when they marked their ballots they cursed Obama and her and resolved no more!
Any promise or assurance coming from Obama’s lips in the very short time he has in the White House left
Has about as much credibility as a “I am clean” promise coming from a crackhead or an addict smoking meth.

November 28, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Cyber Mondayb

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 28, 2016 The delusion of the left over Fidel’s death continues to amaze-from Stein who praised him as a symbol for the fight for justice, to a real stooge and lousy quarterback Kaepernick who praised him before yesterday’s game with the Miami Dolphins (he was booed throughout and the 49ers lost yet again when this stooge was tackled on fourth down by the son of a Cuban-American immigrant and not to be outdone in the delusion race, BLM chimed in with praise for this brutal dictator; if I were Raul I might rethink my policies now that there is a new sheriff in town; “Run. Hide. Fight.” Is not the new Buckeye football cheer but the text sent out on Buckeye Alert notifying students of a shooting in which early reports indicated 10 were wounded (fortunately the scene is now secure and the shooting suspect dead); Jill Stein continues to raise money to fund recounts that may never happen in a classic bait and switch scam but effective to bolster the meager coffers of a failed party; in a really glaring case of typical Clinton hypocrisy Hillary who savaged Trump during the debate and campaign for “shredding the fabric of democracy) is now an avid supporter of the recount efforts of Stein (Hillary should be investigated thoroughly by a soon to be really independent DOJ and depending on the evidence and not her political hypocrisy prosecuted for her handling of classified information and for the pay to play corruption with the Foundation, Bill’s speaking fees and her tenure as Secretary of State with hopefully if convicted in the interests of national unity, her being pardoned by Trump if the Foundation is shut down and the Clintons agree never to form another one or run for any federal office or serve in any capacity in the federal government; David Petreaus is meeting with Trump as a possible Secretary of State as the controversy over Romney is not abating.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Frankie Carle, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from Dave Barry, while looking forward to enjoying some turkey leftovers from your Thanksgiving meal, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.

3. 1946 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1946 on a run of 8 weeks in that position “Rumors Are Flying” by Frankie Carle.  Here is a recording of Frankie Carle performing the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6KIKEeplsQ

On this day in:

c. 1925 to the joy of country music fans the Grand Ole Opry began broadcasting in Nashville, Tennessee as the WSM Barn Dance.
d. 1942 in Boston, Massachusetts one of the nation’s premier night clubs, the Cocoanut Grove caught fire killing 492 patrons (30 more than authorized in the building) and workers and injuring hundreds—the worst nightclub fire in this nation’s history.
e. 1972 Claude Buffet and Roger Bontems had the dubious distinction of being the last criminals guillotined in Paris at La Santa Prison.
Reflections on shopping on this Cyber Monday: "Once again, we come to the Holiday Season, a deeply religious time that each of us observes, in his own way, by going to the mall of his choice." — Dave Barry, noted humor columnist and author of Insane City, but here failed to insert the Ridley Addendum: “or shopping website.”    Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 27, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Natioanl Bavarian Creme Pie Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 27, 2016 The world has a chance of being a better place as one more brutal repressive dictator, Fidel Castro (who to the amazement of people who fled his repressive failed regime is being praised by many of mainstream media and the left like Stein who tweeted Fidel was a symbol for the struggle for justice in the shadow of an empire-U.S.),  bites the bullet and dies at age 90 (unfortunately his policies live on to the disappointment of the Cuban people in his Brother Raul); H(hypocrite)RC after sanctimoniously blasting Trump during the campaign for alleging the results of the election might be rigged joins the Green Party fund raising device to demand a recount of three swing states she lost because of her dishonesty and untrustworthiness; after the media has been up in arms over the “disarray” in the transition team, David Axelrod who was instrumental in Bill Clinton’s transition team has admitted that Trump is further ahead in the process that they were at the same time after the election; Wells Fargo is not yet out of the woods over its sales practices which forced its president John Stumpf to resign as another class action law suit has been filed which Wells Fargo is trying to force into binding arbitration; protests continue at the Dakota Access Pipeline as protestors are ignoring an eviction order and have turned tragic as one female protestor is facing major surgeries to save her arm either from a police concussion grenade or a propane canister she was holding (I shudder to think of the protests of the much longer Keystone XL that Trump should approve on day one of his administration; on a final note, I hope you still have credit availability after Black Friday and Small Business Saturday to further go into debt on Cyber Monday.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Harry James and his Orchestra, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from Caroline Kennedy, while looking forward to enjoying a slice of Bavarian Creme Pie, blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Advent Sunday—celebrating the first day of the liturgical year and the beginning of Advent to prepare for the birth of Christ.
2. National Electric Guitar Day—celebrating the contribution of the electric guitar to music thanks to the joint effort by George Beauchamp, a musician, and Adolph Rickenbacker, an electrical engineer, in 1932 to create it and celebrated on this day as it is the birthday of Jimi Hendrix, considered by many to be the most influential electric guitarist of all times even though his short-lived career ended at age 28 from and overdose. 3. 1945 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1945 on a run of 3 weeks in that position “It’s Been a Long, Long Time” by Harry James and his Orchestra.  Here is a recording of Harry James and his Orchestra with Kitty Kallen ( died in January of this year at 94) on the vocals performing the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJFf29jUnrs
4. National Bavarian Crème Pie Day—celebrating another high caloric desert created by the French consisting of a mixture of pourable custard sauce combined with gelatin, beaten egg whites and lightly whipped cream poured into a pie crust then topped with one’s favorite toppings such as fruit, berries, or liquers.
5. Last One Standing—celebrating the birth on this day in 1957 of Caroline Kennedy, the last surviving child of JFK and Jacqueline Kennedy who is serving as the Ambassador to Japan.
On this day in:
a. 1835 James Pratt and John Smith have the dubious distinction of being the last people in England to be hanged for sodomy.
b. 1924 the first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade was held in New York City.
c. 1945 in another example of the generous nature of most Americans, CARE was founded as a means for Americans to donate food and hardware to war ravaged Europe.
d. 1973 thanks to the 25th Amendment and in a display of bi-partisanship rarely seen today following the resignation of Spiro Agnew as Vice President due to his plea bargain on charges of bribery and tax fraud that required him to do so, the Senate voted 95-3 and the House 385-37 to confirm Gerald Ford as Vice President.
e. 2015 in another chilling reminder of the passions that exist in some segments of our society on the issue of abortion, Robert Lewis Dear, Jr. opened fire in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs, Colorado, wounding 6 police officers, one of whom later died and wounding 6 civilians, two of whom later died; after 5 hours he surrendered, found incompetent to stand trial and is now incarcerated in a Colorado psychiatric facility.
Reflections on what else other that making America Great Again in terms of the economy is also needed: “As much as we need a prosperous economy, we also need a prosperity of kindness and decency.” Caroline Kennedy How right she is especially since both sides during the campaign found their kindness and decency accounts totally overdrawn with both Obama and Clinton still wanting to write insults knowing they are NSF.    Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 26, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Anti-Obesity Day (International)

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 26, 2016 The world has a chance of being a better place as one more brutal repressive dictator, Fidel Castro, bites the bullet and dies at age 90 (unfortunately his policies live on to the disappointment of the Cuban people in his Brother Raul); finally the era of the T-Ball team in the area of national security as J.T. McFarland has been named as deputy national security advisor to join Flynn (not having to rely on the likes of Susan Rice will be a welcome relief); as suspected HRC’s lust for power has gotten the better of her as she has joined the recount demand Wisconsin (what next announcements by her of who she will name in place of the appointments already announced by Trump—too bad she never read the Making of a President and Nixon’s refusal to pursue allegations of massive voter fraud coming out of Mayor Daly’s corrupt political machine due to his desire to do what was best for the country and not provoke a Constitutional crisis when we faced a menacing Soviet Union  and the Cold War was in a full court press mode; Stein’s demand for a recount having received less than one percent of the vote can be condemned as a scam to raise money for the Green Party but HRC’s joining in addition to her lust for power raises questions of whether she is doing this not because she believes Trump will be a disaster for the country but rather to protect her felonious hide from a special prosecutor which Trump has indicated he has no desire to name while certain conservatives like Issa are opening their mouths destroying any chance of compromise with the Blues to get this country moving again; on a real sad note and why on-line shopping on this Black Friday Weekend, a Good Samaritan trying to stop a man assaulting a woman in a Wal-Mart parking lot in San Antonio was shot and killed by the assaulter; and on a final note Elizabeth Warren of “I never met a regulation that we should not make more onerous on business” is calling for an investigation of the President-Elect’s Transition Team.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, a music link to the Mills Brothers, factoids of interest for this day in history, a relevant quote from an anonymous source, while looking forward to enjoying some leftovers from your Thanksgiving meal (killer recipe for turkey soup below), blessed with a positive attitude and secure in the knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for details.
1. Small Business Saturday—instead of being trampled, getting into fisticuffs over the last must have widget, driving for hours in the mall parking lot look for a space, or as seen above getting shot in a mall parking lot, today might be a good day to skip the malls and the crowds and shop in your neighborhood small business stores; after all small businesses are the backbone and driving job creating force of this nation.
2. Anti Obesity Day (International)—created in 2011 to promote awareness of the adverse effects of obesity which causes heart attacks, diabetes, strokes, and kidney failures to name just a few and surprisingly is not just a problem here in the U.S. and the developed world but globally. Why this day is observed on the second day after one’s 8,000 calorie Thanksgiving meal as opposed to a few days prior is a mystery to this poet. 3. 1944 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1944 on a run of 5 weeks in that position “You Always Hurt the One You Love” by the Mills Brothers. Here is a recording of the Mills Brothers performing the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mS9U75YC-jA
4. National Cake Day—celebrating a day that a parent can say let the kids eat cake and not lose one’s head over the wish.
5. Peanuts Into Dollars—celebrating the birth on this day in 1922 of noted syndicated cartoonist Charles Schultz who finally saw the Great Pumpkin and tried to kick a football with Lucy holding for the last time in 2000.
On this day in:
a. 1789 a national Thanksgiving Day was proclaimed by President Washington as requested by Congress to be observed off and on until 1863 when President Lincoln perhaps influenced by the victory at Gettysburg, declared that it would be celebrated annually on the fourth Thursday in November.
b. 1842 the University of Notre Dame, whose football team today is getting waxed by the Trojans on a wet day in Los Angeles, was founded.
c. 1922 the Toll of the Sea the first general release motion picture to use two tone Technicolor was released.
d. 2000 George W. Bush was certified by Florida Secretary of State Kathleen Harris as the winner of Florida’s electoral votes to go on to win after a Constitutional Crisis decided by the Supreme Court the exact place we potentially find ourselves today do in part to the inanity of the Green Party and the lust for power of Hillary Clinton.
e. 2003 an era of supersonic commercial air travel came to an end as the Concorde made its last flight.
Reflections on the irony of obesity when millions a facing hunger each and every day: “Close to a billion people - one-eighth of the world's population - still live in hunger. Each year 2 million children die through malnutrition. This is happening at a time when doctors in Britain are warning of the spread of obesity. We are eating too much while others starve.” Jonathan Sacks, noted British rabbi and scholar. If that observation of that behavior does not disgust you this observation really will: http://alaskanpoet.blogspot.com/2016/11/let-them-eat-cake-at-old-homestead.html  Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs. November 25, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Black Friday

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For November 25, 2016 Hope your waistline is not bulging after a day of feasting; in just another example of why government needs to be reduced, employees the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the bane of business created by Dodds-Frank, gave all of their political contributions to Democrats, $50,000 in the aggregate; the hypocrisy theater is still SRO as Representative Ellison who is running for the head of the DNC and has been a harsh critic of Senator Sessions for racial remarks allegedly made by him 30 years ago evidently now refused to be interviewed telephonically by the New York Times (this guy looks like a true Trojan Horse for the Blues given his proclivity for giving paid speeches before Muslim Brotherhood and pro Palestinian sponsored events and not reporting as required by House Ethics Rules) when informed he would be asked about his past controversial dealings with the founder of the Nation of Islam;  the crowds in the malls today may be a little lighter as online sales on Thanksgiving increased by 14 percent to surge over $1 billion (already a killing in a parking lot at a Wal-Mart in Nevada on Black Friday); in a mockery of the true meaning of Christmas—peace on Earth, goodwill to men, three men  stringing Christmas lights in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood of Philadelphia were shot by two black males from a passing car and who sadly remain on the loose; if Europe does not have enough problems with radical Islam, Turkey is now threatening to open its borders to migrants from Syria who will be flooding once again into Europe over the EU’s condemnation of Erdogan’s crackdown on dissent following the failed coup; in yet another example of the failure of socialism, citizens of Venezuela are fleeing by the thousands as the nation continues its downward economic spiral; on a final note the Reds are deeply divided over whether Giuliani or Romney should be Secretary of State (my opinion if asked would be that given his experience in saving the Salt Lake City Winter Olympics Romney would be perfect to head the VA).
1. International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women—created by the UN General Assembly in 1999 to promote awareness of the need to prevent physical, mental, and emotional violence against women; this is another observance that should be observed each and every day of the year.
2. Black Friday—celebrating if a retailer or bemoaning if a consumer looking for a parking space or waiting in long lines at the checkout counters the busiest shopping day of the year and the official start of the Christmas shopping season. 3. 1943 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1943 on a run of 13 weeks in that position “Paper Doll” by the Mills Brothers. Here is a recording of the Mills Brothers performing the song:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42mQhMAg-7s
4. National Leftover Day—celebrating all the creative ways to use the leftovers one was unable to consume during the caloric orgy of consumption on Thanksgiving (my favorite is turkey noodle soup and easy and tasty recipe follows): http://www.tasteofhome.com/recipes/old-fashioned-turkey-noodle-soup
5. A Salute for the Ages—celebrating the birth on this day in 1960 of John F. Kennedy, Jr. who along with his wife and sister in-law was killed flying a private plane to Hyannis Port in 1999 and is best remembered for saluting his father’s caisson as it rolled mournfully past him.

On this day in:
a. 1783 three months after the signing of the Treaty of Paris ending the Revolutionary War, the last British troops evacuated New York City, a date now celebrated in New York City as Evacuation Day.
b. 1874 the Greenback Party was formed as a result of the Panic of 1873 and at one point had 21 members in the House but faded into dissolution by 1899.
c. 1947 the “Hollywood Ten” a group of noted screenwriters and directors refused to testify before the House Un-American Activities Committee and were blacklisted by movie studios (today they would be hailed as heroes and conservative screenwriters like actors find jobs far and few between).
d. 1952 Agatha Christie’s play the Mouse Trap debuted in London and is still being performed today, the longest continuously performed play in history.
e. 1986 in an event that almost cost Ronald Reagan his presidency, Attorney General Edwin Meese admitted that funds from covert sales of arms to Iran were illegally diverted to Contra rebels fighting the Sandinistas in Nicaragua. He resigned as Attorney General not due to the Iran-Contra Scandal but rather due to the Wedtech Scandal involving minority owned businesses set aside preferences to Wedtech, a company that fraudulently concealed its non minority majority ownership.
Reflections on the irony of Black Friday: “Only in America do people trample each in a frenzy and fight each other for sales and bargains exactly one day after being thankful for what they already have.” Anon How true it is; at least shopping online you avoid the frenzy and the worst thing that might happen to you is that the transaction records and your data might be hacked. Please enjoy the poems on events of interest on my twitter account below (if you like them, retweet and follow me) and follow my blogs.
