December 12. 2020 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Poinsettia Day

Ridley's Believe It Or Not December 12, 2020
CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues with 597.927 new cases (a .84%  increase compared to a 2.13% increase yesterday) to bring the total over  71 million to 71,996,084, 19,984,881 of  which  are active, 52,011,203 closed with 50,401,481 recoveries (96.90% compared to  yesterday’s 96.87%) and 1,609,722 deaths (3.09% compared to yesterday’s 3.13%) to continue the trend of increased recovery  percentages and decreased death percentages.
CV USA Cases: New cases of 212,455 (a 1.31% increase compared to yesterday’s 1.49% increase) to bring the  total over 16 million  to  16,489,687 with 6,579,337 active cases of which 27,298 (.41% of active cases), recently on a disturbing upward trend with no dips from a high of 19,155 on July 23  (27,219 yesterday which means sadly the peak has not been reached), are in serious or critical condition as trend has shifted and is still continuing to go up, and 9,910,320 closures,  304,608 of which have been deaths (3.07% compared to yesterday’s 3.12%) and 9,605,712 of which have been recoveries (96.93% compared to yesterday’s 96.88%). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .02% lower than the world rate and .43% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may wll want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 918 ranks behind Belgium (1532), Peru (1102), Italy (1060),  Spain (1018), and UK (941 which has now passed us despite leading world in testing), and only slightly worse than Argentina (895), France (884),  Mexico (872), Brazil (849), Chile (826) that we recently passed, Bulgaria (803 and newly added to list),    Ecuador (781), Bolivia (767) and Sweden (743) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in deaths and we have now conducted 3,853,894 more tests to bring total to 218,970,111  (now at 659,806/M compared to Russia at 562,473/M so Trump was telling truth that we conduct more tests in number and on a per capital basis for nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Singapore and UAE) but for the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 692,791/M).
Non CV Case News: Charlie Pride one of Country Music’s icons and a trailblazer for blacks in Country Music has just died on December 11 from complications of CV at 86, 1 month after singing at the CMA where he received the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award; Pelosi is back to her old rants of guilt upon accusation if a Red by demanding Secretary of Veteran’s Affairs resign immediately as it is claimed that he sexually abused a female staffer then tried to cover it up (never much due process out of this rabid number 3 in line Blue); Twitter temporarily banned interaction with Trump’s tweets claiming it was an accident (given Twitter’s track record of censorship impossible to believe); the Commander in Chief in what will most likely be his last Army Navy Game to the cheers of the midshipmen and cadets tossed the coin at the start of the game; the cack CNN must be inhaling may have ruined its memory bank to wipe clean its defamation disaster with Nick Sandmann as it has just been hit with a $50 million defamation lawsuit by Kash Patel, chief of staff for the Acting Secretary of Defense (if Sullivan case doesn’t classify Patel as a public figure, CNN may be in deep Bandini); the Orthodox Community in NYC in essence told De Blasio to pound sand in his request to have a 5,000 person funeral held outdoors or require masks (such defiance should be aped by people who want to eat outdoors which without any supporting science that such acts will spread the virus is banned in California to go with the indoor ban which will cause 1000’s of restaurants to fail (another reason to sign Newsom recall petition along with the $3 million his winery PlumJack received in PPP funds); while NYC is a soaring minority on minority deadly shooting gallery, 3,345 of the 3,793 perpetrators arrested in 2020 through November 30 for gun crimes have been let go (anyone who believes a criminal after release cannot procure a gun is living in a delusion); the Seattle City Council is considering making minor crimes felonies and giving no prosecute cards to addicts and homeless and mentally ill.
Chicago/Baltimore Gun Violence: In Chicago as of December 9,  2020,  the number of shootings increased to 4,008 of whom  683 have died (total travesty of BLM when blacks are shot and killed by blacks in droves and only sounds of silence and complete absence of any protests in front of City Hall demanding action to curb the killings and shootings); Baltimore with a fraction of Chicago’s population and hoping against all hopes that 2020 will not be a record in terms of deaths but now seems to be shooting less and killing less and is still 369 behind Chicago at 314 murders (when will Chicago and Baltimore get serious about this carnage or is this the case of true racism as a Blue run city turns a deaf ear and a blind eye to the slaughter of people of color by people of color and when will the left focus on the problem of color on color shootings in Blue run cities which  have  been way  more  deadly and way more numerous than shootings by  police or by random mass shootings which occur far fewer times)              As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and observances, factoids of interest for this day in history, a musical link to “You Send Me/ Summertime” by Sam, Cooke, the fact that you believe in precinct prior to important meetings and a quote from Al Gore on the decision by SCOTUS on the 2000 election, secure in the knowledge that if you want to send a gift for any memorable events like Father’s Day, college graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price tailored to the event and the recipient.          2. National Poinsettia  Day—celebrating the mostly red but can come in white and other colors flower that seems to personify Christmas.
        3. 1957 Number One Song— the number 1 song in 1957 on this day on a run of 2      weeks was “You Send Me/ Summertime Part 1” by Sam Cooke to join 22 other number 1 songs. Sam married twice with 3 kids in the second marriage and 3 out of wedlock. After clubbing with a female who he took back to a motel where she fearing she was about to be raped, fled from the bathroom window and went to the motel seeking help from the manager who did not respond quick enough causing her to flee. When the manager finally opened the door she got into an altercation with Cooke and fearing for her life shot him and killed him on December 11, 1964 at age 33. Here’s a recording of him singing the songs:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c4gSrF6XFD8

Response by Gore to SCOTUS decision in Bush v Gore :”Just moments ago, I spoke with George W. Bush and congratulated him on becoming the 43rd president of the United States, and I promised him that I wouldn't call him back this time.I offered to meet with him as soon as possible so that we can start to heal the divisions of the campaign and the contest through which we just passed.
I say to President-elect Bush that what remains of partisan rancor must now be put aside, and may God bless his stewardship of this country.Neither he nor I anticipated this long and difficult road. Certainly neither of us wanted it to happen.
Yet it came, and now it has ended, resolved, as it must be resolved, through the honored institutions of our democracy. Other disputes have dragged on for weeks before reaching resolution. And each time, both the victor and the vanquished have accepted the result peacefully and in the spirit of reconciliation.
So let it be with us.” Vice President Gore Hopefully sooner or later we will hear words of a similar kind form President Trump.
