Ridley’s Believe
It Or Not For February 4, 2019 In the lowest scoring game in Super Bowl history,
the Patriots defeated the Rams 13-3 but Brady did not win the most valuable
player award as that trophy was awarded to Justin Edelman who caught 10 passes
for 141 yards and who the Rams could not defend against; lawyers for Nick
Sandman have sent out numerous letters to people and organizations that rushed
to judgment and condemned Covington student Nick Sandmann for his face off with
Nathan Phillips (nothing like the fake news caught distorting the truth and
being held accountable); the founder of QuadrigaCX, Gerald Cotton has died and
took the Bitcoin company’s passwords to his grave, blocking access to $190
million; Governor Northam is facing
mounting cries to resign after his med school yearbook revealed he had a photo
with two men, one in black face and the other in full KKK regalia while his African-American
lieutenant governor has been accused of a sexual assault 15 years ago (Northam
should resign not for the year book photo but for supporting infanticide and Fairfax
should do the same if the allegations are credible); on the eve of the SOTUS
the latest caravan of illegals are expected to arrive at the southern border
today (Pelosi and Schumer have lied through their teeth and will not negotiate
on the issue of barriers or walls and Trump should declare a national emergency
and use Pentagon funds to start constructing a wall where it makes sense to do
so); on the illegal alien front Rapper 21, a U.K, citizen who came here on a
visa in 2005 has been arrested for overstaying his visa and faces deportation.
As always, I hope you
enjoy today’s holidays and observances, music links to Ke$ha,
factoids of interest for this day in history, the fact that your tasks are
not operose and a relevant quote from Rosa Parks on racism, secure in the
knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college
graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the
Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price
tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for

1. World Cancer Day—created in 2008 by the Union for Cancer Control to create
awareness of the need to be alert for the symptoms of cancer and promote research
in finding cures.
2. Rosa Parks Day (California and Oregon)—commemorating the refusal
of Rosa Parks on December 1, 1955 to give up her seat on a Montgomery, Alabama
bus and move to the back of the bus which led to the over a year long boycott
in Montgomery and a SCOTUS decision that segregated seating on buses was unconstitutional.
3. 2010 Number One Song— the number one song on this day in 2010 on a run of 9
weeks in that position was “Tik Tok” by Key$ha. Here is a recording of the
song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iP6XpLQM2Cs
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with
“n” to words beginning with “o” is “operose” which means laborious or
tedious which describes our gridlocked legislative process in the Swamp to a
tee.
5. President But Without A Musical—celebrating the birth on this day in
1931 of Isabel Peron, the third wife of Juan Peron who served as his vice
president and became the first female non-royal to serve as president in the
Western Hemisphere on his death and who was placed under house arrest for 5
years following the military’s taking over the government of Argentina in 1976 and
then exiled to Spain where she resides today.
On this day
in:
a. 1789 the Electoral College unanimously elected George Washington
as President of the United States.
b. 1974 Patty Hearst was kidnapped by the Symbionese Libration
Army.
c. 1994 President of Venezuela Carlos Perez survived an unsuccessful
coup attempt by Hugo Chavez who was imprisoned for 2 years before being
pardoned to run and win the presidency in 1998, marking the beginning of the nation’s decline
into socialism and the chaos a once rich country finds itself in today.
d. 1999 unarmed West African immigrant Amadou Diallo was shot at
41 times by 4 New York City detectives, hitting him 19 times; amazingly they were
found not guilty of second degree murder but the city had to pay $3 million in the
wrongful death suit that followed.
e. 2004 Facebook was founded by Mark Zuckerberg.
Reflections
on racism which is still us but fortunately not to the extent it existed in
Rosa Parks day: “Racism is still with us. But it is up to us to prepare
our children for what they have to meet, and, hopefully, we shall overcome.”
