Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For February 17, 2019 The scandal
that is brewing over potential use of the 25th Amendment to remove
Trump by disgraced and fired Deputy of the FBI Andrew McCabe and soon to be
retired Ron Rosenstein is heating up amid calls to have the 2 testify before
the Senate (just another example of the hate in the Deep State over his
election and something that the new AG should consider paneling a grand jury to
see if an attempted coup was being planned); the Aurora shooter went to his
meeting knowing that he would be fired and pulled out a gun and started
shooting as soon as he was told, killing 5 fellow employees and wounding 5
police officers who responded reminding HR people of how dangerous a firing can
be; Trump was ridiculed on SNL last night for his emergency declaration on the
border by Don Cheadle who wore a T-shirt with a “Support Trans Kids” and
changed in to a Russian hockey jersey with Trump’s name on it; the anti-ICE
hysteria among Blues remains unabated when the House Judiciary struck a Red amendment
requiring notification to ice when an illegal has failed a background check
(how much more blood has to accumulate on Blue hands from illegal alien
criminals before the Blues come to their senses?); Anthony Weiner has been
released into a re-entry program; call it the Kaepernick effect but a Florida
middle school 9 year old has been arrested for disrupting a school event by not
standing for the Pledge of Allegiance; while NYC was giving up the farm to attract
Amazon, San Jose is offering no incentives to Google to create a second headquarters
in the city.
As always, I hope you enjoy today’s holidays and
observances, a music link to Ariana Grande factoids of interest for
this day in history, the fact you can surmount any oracious forces confronting
you and a relevant quote from Huey P. Newton on a revolutionary’s fate, secure in the
knowledge that if you want to find a gift for any memorable events like college
graduations, birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries, you know that the
Alaskanpoet can provide you with a unique customized poem at a great price
tailored to the event and the recipient. You need only contact me for
details.
1. National PTA Founders Day— celebrating the efforts of Alice McLellan Birney, Phoebe
Apperson Hearst and Selena Sloan Butler in creating the PTA which performs
critical functions in furthering the education of our children since 1897.
2. National Public Science Day)-- created by the American Association
for the Advancement of Science since 1987 to promote the teaching of science in
the public schools.
3. 2019 Number One Song— the number one song on this day in 2019 on a run of 3
weeks in that position was “7 Rings” by Ariana Grande. Here is a recording
of the song: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYh6mYIJG2Y
4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we move from words beginning with
“n” to words beginning with “o” is “oragious” which means stormy which
describes the difficulties Trump will face in dealing with the House in which
the Blues are in the majority.
5. A Panther With Claws—celebrating or bemoaning the birth on this day in 1942 of noted
black activist and co-founder of the Black Panther Party Huey P. Newton who struggled
with addiction and was shot and killed by a fellow drug dealer anxious to
expand his drug territory in 1989.
On this day
in:
a. 1904 Madame Butterfly premiered
at La Scala in Milan.
b. 1964 SCOTUS in the case of Westberry v. Sanders
ruled that congressional districts had to be approximately the same size.
c. 1972 Cumulative sales of the Volkswagen Beetle exceeded those
of the Ford Model T.
d. 1974 Robert Preston, a disgruntled U.S. Army Private, buzzed
the White House in a stolen Army helicopter and landed in on the South Lawn. He
took off chased by two Maryland State Police forcing one to land and then
returned to the White House lawn to be arrested and with a plea bargain
sentenced to one year of prison and fined over $2,000.
e. 1996 Inn Philadelphia Chess Master Garry Kasparov defeated
IBM’s Super Computer Deep Blue.
Reflections
on the fate of a revolutionary from one who should know: “The first lesson a
revolutionary must learn is that he is a doomed man.” Huey P. Newton, more so
than ever if he is also using illegal drugs.
