July 6, 2016 Ridley's Believe It Or Not National Air Traffic Control Day

 Only 198 days left to endure President Obama’s term and worse since Comey after detailing HRC lied to us and was grossly negligent (extremely careless) in handling emails with classified material which is a felony, Comey declined to recommend prosecution. A commentator on Fox said it best this election is no longer about Reds, Blues and Independents, it is about Washington, D.C. versus the rest of the country, especially the country between San Francisco and Beverly Hills on one side and Washington D.C. on the other; if extremely careless is the same as gross negligence the only reasonable prosecutor that would not prosecute HRC for failing to secure emails marked classified is Obama desperate to get her elected for legacy preservation and Lynch who violated big time ethics by meeting with the man who appointed her and HRC’s husband.
           On the sports front Rio faces a two pronged assault, one from the Zika virus and the other its pending collapse on the financial front and political front; Barcelona soccer star Lionel Messi was convicted of tax fraud but will have his 21 month jail sentence suspended.
           On the good news front which after watching the farce yesterday on Hillary Clinton, news out today that root canals may now be a thing of the past.  www.lyingcrookedhillay.com is a great way to start your day along of course with www.alaskanpoet.blogspot.com

1. National Fried Chicken Day—celebrating that unique American restaurant staple; today would be a good day to see what specials KFC or Popeye’s might have to celebrate the day.
2. National Air Traffic Control Day—celebrating the creation of our air traffic control system that somehow manages to keep the thousands of planes in the sky overhear at any given time from colliding with each other either in the air or on the ground but now facing another threat the proliferation of drones which in terms of effects on a plane would be like a seagull or starling on massive amounts of steroids hitting a plane with disastrous consequences.
3. 1992 Number One Song—celebrating the number one song in 1992 on a run of five weeks in that position “Baby Got Back” by another pointless rapper Sir Mix A Lot. Here is a link to Sir Mix A Lot performing “Baby Got Back.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JphDdGV2TU
4. National Fried Chicken Day—celebrating a dish that is about as American as apple pie (even though apple pie originated in Europe not here.
5. A Comet Exposed To The Sun Melts Its Tail And Dies—celebrating the birthday on this day in 1925 of Bill Haley, the singer who many believe created and popularized rock and roll with his band Bill Haley and the Comets, but was an alcoholic who slowly faded away due to the disease and died too early in 1981 at the age of 56.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZgdufzXvjqw check out the long skirts and dancing moves
On this day in:
a. 1854 the first convention of the newly formed Republican Party was held in Jackson, Michigan (have to believe it was a lot more sedate than the convention that will be held shortly in Cleveland, Ohio.
b. 1885 Louis Pasteur successfully tested his rabies vaccine on Joseph Meister, a boy who had been bitten by a rabid dog.
c. 1944 Jackie Robinson while serving in the U.S. Army in a move repeated by Rosa Parks refused to move to the back of a civilian public bus which led to his court-martial at which time he was acquitted; shameful treatment but it did prevent him from seeing combat in Europe in a tank unit which given the tendency of Shermans to burst into flame when hit by an Tiger or Panther may have saved him to later break the color barrier in baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers.
d. 1990 the Electronic Freedom Foundation a non profit group dedicated to preserving digital freedom and exposing government malfeasance in the internet arena was founded.
e. 1995 in an act of barbarity not seen since World War II, Serbian forces under Ratko Mladic began attacking the Bosnian town of Srebrenica, killing more than 8,000 Bosnian civilians. He is being tried as a war criminal in the Hague.
RA bit of levity from Air Traffic Control to break the stress and strain of a very serious business where lives are always potentially at risk. Tower: "Delta 351, you have traffic at 10 o'clock, 6 miles!"
Delta 351: "Give us another hint! We ... have digital watches!"
A Pan Am 727 flight waiting for start clearance in Munich
overheard the following:
Lufthansa (in German): "Ground, what is our start clearance

time?"
Ground (in English): "If you want an answer you must speak in
English."
Lufthansa (in English): "I am a German, flying a German airplane,
in Germany. Why must I speak English?"
Unknown voice from another plane (in a beautiful British accent):
"Because you lost the bloody war."
============================================================
Tower: "Eastern 702, cleared for takeoff, contact Departure
on frequency 124.7"
Eastern 702: "Tower, Eastern 702 switching to Departure. By the
way, after we lifted off we saw some kind of dead animal on the
far end of the runway."
Tower: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff behind Eastern 702,
contact Departure on frequency 124.7. Did you copy that report
from Eastern 702?"
Continental 635: "Continental 635, cleared for takeoff, roger;
and yes, we copied Eastern... we've already notified our caterers."
