September 6, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Labor Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not September 6, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on an increasing basis with cases now over 221 million at  221,978,794 cases; 18,806,408 of which are active, 203,172,386  closed with 198,583,498 recoveries (97.74% and 97.74% yesterday, and 4,588,888 deaths (2.26% and 2.25% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 40 million at 40,865,794  with 8,863,757 active cases of which 25,666 are serious or critical, (8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now on a serious upswing due to Delta virus to .290 % of active cases and to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 3,605,  32,001,837 closed, with 666,559 deaths (2.08%) and with 31,335,278 recoveries (97.92%). Our death rate percentage is now .18% lower than the world’s death rate.
Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 2000 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5924) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.26% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.77% of its closed cases have died (3122), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2781),   Brazil (2724) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Argentina (2466),  Columbia newly added to the list  (2433),   Belgium (2180), Italy (2147), Mexico (2018), Poland (1994), and slightly better than the UK which we just passed on the 18th  (1951),  Chile (1922), Romania (1819), Spain(1816),  Ecuador newly added to list (1802),  France (1757), Portugal (1753), Bolivia (1561),  Sweden (1440) that never closed its economy down like we did, and Switzerland (1261).
Tests: We have now conducted 593,371,220 tests (1,780,332/M) just passed by France at 1,975,702 who is now 1st  on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 4,047,405/M.
CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys  that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which has been passed by Argentina and newly added Columbia but passed the UK  to move up to 9th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic   at 2018/M with a fatality rate of 8.65% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                     Guatemala:  Active Cases:  48,266 Deaths/M 663
                     Honduras:    Active Cases: 229,490 Deaths/M 900
                     El Salvador:  Active cases:   11,759 Deaths/M 455
US Vaccinations: As of 9/6/2021 374.5 million doses,  .982 million per day (down to 4 months to go for 75% of population vaccinated) and in California 97,576  per day  (which means if the rate does not increase it will take us still some 3 months to have 75% of the population of California vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who may believe that 90% is required).  In California 48,434,737 total doses have been given (86.2%  of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 83.3%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California has  moved down to 13th tied with Illinois and Kentucky of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 56.3% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 53% and has moved down to 17th place tied with Minnesota as a percentage of the population fully vaccinated.
A  long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
Non  CV News: The State Department which failed completely in its efforts to insure that no Americans were left behind is now trying to claim credit for its nonexistent help in getting 4 Americans out of Afghanistan  and worse seems to be the stumbling block for allowing 6 planes on the tarmac from leaving to Qatar full of Americans, SIVs and green cards by not approving the manifests of the desperate passengers; Senator Blumenthal a liberal Blue from Connecticut who supports Biden big time is blasting the State Department for its obstruction in preventing 2 planes also loaded with Americans, SIVs and green cards from departing to Qatar; Rachel Madow got caught feasting in the pseudo journalist cookie jar jumping on a sole source story that was completely false that Oklahoma hospitals were turning away patients due to an influx of people ingesting ivermectin to treat COVID-19; the Blues are spending money like it is going out of style to save Newsom and his ineptness smearing Larry Elder as a black faced “white supremacist” and the recall pushed by over 1.6 million grassroots  Blues, Indies and Reds as a Republican power grab of the Capitol  protestors on January 6, 2021; Seattle’s leftist mayor Durkan has ordered all Seattle police to be vaccinated by October 1 or be relieved of duty which some reports believe will result in the loss of 200 officers at a time when the city is under severe strain trying to beef up its decimated police force; took a breather in its campaign against election reform efforts in Red state and plans to fight Texas’ anti-abortion law, to file its long awaited anti-trust suit against Google’s almost absolute monopoly of the search business; the Cack News Network is really spreading it this time arguing that as the country becomes more diverse “white supremacy” will not fade away as it will ad as members groups that have the “right look” ( not sure what the author of this article had in mind but first guess would be children of mixed marriages); national disasters bring out the best in citizens risking life and limb to protect their neighbors but also the worst of human nature, as the New Orleans Police Department arrested 40 people following Hurricane Ida for looting; on this Labor Day when employers are having great difficulties hiring workers a study of economic recovery and growth rates found that manufacturing employment in “right to work” states grew far faster than in states which required the workers to pay union dues
; with the U.S. facing severe crises at home and aboard leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal the priorities of our dementia affected president:

Chicago Gun Violence: Hey Jackass.com is alive and well to collect data to show that through September 5, 2021, gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting mostly persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 3169 persons shot of whom 539 have died.

Read a Book Day—celebrating an observance that is so easy to do by opening and reading a book on this day even though I am clueless of who created this observance or when first observed.
              3. 2000 Number 1 Song USA—the number 1 song in 2000 on this day was “Doesn’t Really Matter” by Janet Jackson on a run of 3 weeks in that position to join 17 other songs that achieved number 1 status as 10 acts who achieved their first number 1 song on the Billboard Hot 100. Here is a music video of “Doesn’t Really Matter” by Janet Jackson:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iJZosBX2L0  Janet the tenth and youngest Jackson may be remembered for her wardrobe meltdown  during the half time show for Super Bowl XXXVIII but as the “Queen of Pop” is still going strong at age 55 with 11 successful studio albums under her belt and record sales of over 100 million.
             4.
Word of the Day—the word of the day is “senectitude” which means old age which the pandemic has put a halt to the steadily increasing life expectancy of past years.
             5.  Only One Life Not Ninecelebrating the birth on this day in 1947 of openly gay singer-songwriter Sylvester James, Jr. who performed under the name Sylvester and who became known as the “Queen of Pop” but contracted AIDS when it was a certain death sentence unlike famous felines with the same name had only one life to give and died from it on December 16, 1988 at the age of 41.
         On this day in:

              e. 1997 over a million people lined the streets of London to view the funeral procession of Princess Diane and over  2 ½ billion people worldwide watched the televised proceedings compared to the 750 million who watched the televised wedding.

Reflections on Labor Day: “I believe that summer is our time, a time for the people, and that no politician should be allowed to speak to us during the summer. They can start talking again after Labor Day.” Lewis Black, noted actor and standup comedian
