March 16, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Freedom of Information Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not March 16, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with cases now over 121 million at 121,080,253 with 463,386 new cases (a .38% increase) 20,758,777  which are active, 100,321,476 closed with 97,644,088 recoveries (97.33% and 97.33% yesterday) and 2,677,388 deaths (2.67% and 2.67% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 30 million at 30,169,103 with 87,446 new cases (a .29% increase) with 7,288,968 active cases of which 9,342 (.13% of active cases and back to daily decreases and a now a decrease now of 19,929 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 22,880,135 closures, 548,645 of which have been deaths (2.40% and 2.41% yesterday) and 22,331,490 of which have been recoveries (97.60% and 97.59% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .27% lower than the world rate and now .15% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here but at least has approved 4 vaccines as opposed to our 3  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1651 ranks behind Belgium (1939), UK (1845) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Hungary (1786),  Italy (1705), and Bulgaria (1660) and only slightly worse than Portugal (1642), Spain (1552),  Mexico (1501), Peru (1477), France (1395), Sweden (1299) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a steady rise in  deaths, Brazil (1309),  Poland (1258), Argentina (1184) Switzerland (1166), Chile (1133), and Bolivia (1016) and we have now conducted  382,236,267 tests (now at 1,150,039/M) compared to number 2 now Spain at  886,272/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,581,110/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 3/16/2021 111 million doses have been given, 2.44 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us now reduced to some 5 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 12,686,451 total doses have been given (73.0% of doses received to again remain below U.S. average of 77.5%), but with the pressure of more than 1.95 million recall signatures have been turned in, California has moved up from 43rd to 42nd   out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 10.5% of its population fully vaccinated has moved up slightly to 44th in terms of percentage of residents vaccinated. A long way to go to get herd immunity and lagging behind in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and percentage of population vaccinated compared to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor.

Non CV Case News: Harris on sexual harassment remains the Hypocrite in Chief when it comes to Blues like Cuomo as opposed to Reds like Kavanaugh as her lips remain sealed when it comes to Cuomo’s dalliance; 4 hours after the first attack on 3  Asian massage parlors targets target which killed 8 people, Robert Long has been arrested in Georgia; Tiger Woods who may have gotten a get out off a reckless driving charge is back in Florida working on rehab following his multiple leg injuries after driving from Palos Verdes; in another example of the proclivity of the MSM like WaPo to distort and lie, the quote from Donald Trump to Georgia election official to “find fraud” in the election which made its way up the ladder to be instrumental in the 2nd impeachment has been discovered to be a complete lie and distortion as the recording was found and recovered in the official’s computer trash file; Newsom accepting the inevitable that he will face a recall election, is using the Blue predictable race card, claiming the supporters of the petition are racists against Hispanics (people not getting unemployment because of his ineptness are outraged not because of the color of their skin but the thinness of their wallets due to being out of work due to his shut downs and no checks because of his EDD crashing; Biden has no plans to visit the Southern Border to see the chaos his executive orders and statements have created but at least is going to come out of his Oval Office bunker to hold a Press Conference on March 25 (lottery to hold would be to predict how large a screen for the teleprompter he will need to conceal his mental fadings); kiss the idea of assimilation at Columbia goodbye as the school announced separate graduation ceremonies for Blacks, Asians, Latinx, FLI (first generation graduation/low income and Lavendar (members of the LGBTIAQ+ community; backers of a recall effort for L.A. DA Gascon have formally started the process and have started the 160 day clock to obtain 580,000 signatures of registered voters to place a recall on the ballot https://recallgeorgegascon.com/; as Biden speaks of small gatherings for the 4th of July assuming we follow the CDC’s rules leave it to a political cartoonist to reveal how Biden is going to get us to follow his mask in public rules https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cartoons-slideshow.
Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through March 15, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 591 persons shot of whom 108 have died.

          2. Freedom of Information Day—founded by John Bohannon and celebrated on or near March 16, the anniversary of the birth of James Madison, regarded as the Father of the Constitution and a prime proponent for openness in government which has a proclivity for treating citizens like mushrooms, keeping them in the dark and covering them with cack.

           3. 1949 Number One Song—the number 1 song in 1949 on this day with a run of 9 weeks in that position was “Cruising Down the River)” by Russ Morgan and His Orchestra with the Skylarks as vocals to share number 1 status with 8 other songs that year.  Here is a recording of “Cruising Down the River” by Russ Morgan and His Orchestra with the Skylarks as vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tCmAOqLMj_Q Russ was a big band leader during the 30’s and 40’s, had several TV shows during the 50’s. He often performed in hotels and in 1965 landed an 8 week contract at the Dunes in Las Vegas that lasted 12 years. His baton was taken away permanently at age 65 on August 7, 1969. The Skylarks were a singing group of 4 soldiers serving in the Panama Canal in 1942 who added two female singers after the war and performed background singing form many artists in the 50’s and 60’s and performed their farewell concert in the Hollywood Palladium in 1979.

         4. Word of the Day—today’s word of the day as we end the “q’s” to start the “r’s” tomorrow is “quoz” which means an absurd thing or person which is well used when describing many of our politicians in office today.

          5. Cancer Thrives In Private Also—celebrating the birth on this day in 1912 of Pat Nixon First Lady under Richard Nixon who was a heavy smoker but never allowed herself to be seen smoking in public only to come down with lung cancer and die from it on June 22, 1993 at the age of 81 to be followed by a grieving Nixon after a marriage of 53 years some 10 months later.

          On this day in:

          a. 1968 in Mai Lai, South Vietnam, in a dark day for the American military, U.S. soldiers under the command of Lt. Calley massacred some 347-500 civilian old men, women, and children.

          b. 1984 the CIA Station Chief in Beirut, Lebanon, William Buckley was kidnapped by Hezbollah, tortured in captivity and then executed sometime in 1985.

          c. 1995 in a better late than never moment the State of Mississippi formally ratified the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery that had been ratified by the requisite number of states in 1865 and added to the Constitution.

          d. 2003 American activist Rachel Corrie was crushed by a bulldozer leveling a home in Rafah, Gaza Strip by an IDF armored bulldozer since the home was believed to have been used in smuggling weapons used against the Israelis.

          e. 2020 the Dow fell 12.93% its second largest percentage drop, losing 2997.10 points the largest point drop in its history as the CV pandemic was spreading and the Fed announced lowering its interest rate target to 0-.25%

Reflections on the Mai-Lai Massacre: “My troops were getting massacred and mauled by an enemy I couldn’t see, I couldn’t feel and I couldn’t touch—that nobody in the military system ever described them as anything other than Communism. They didn’t give it a race, they didn’t give it a sex, they didn’t give it an age. They never let me believe it was just a philosophy in a man’s mind. That was my enemy out there.” Lt. Calley’s statement to the court after being found guilty of mass murder.
