February 21, 2021 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Mother Language Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not February 21, 2021

CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues the new year with surging cases now nearing 112 million at 111,863,912 with 1,064,095 new cases (a .96% increase) 22,156,190 of which are active, 89,687,322 closed with 87,211,760 recoveries (97.24% and 97.23% yesterday) and 2,475,262 deaths (2.76% and 2.77% yesterday) to continue the trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentages with some plateaus.

CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 28 million at 28,740,321 with 68,455 new cases (a .24% increase) with 9,297,755 active cases of which 17,206 (.19% of active cases and a decrease now of 12,065 from a peak of 29,271 on December 31) are in serious or critical condition, 19,442,566 closures, 510,500 of which have been deaths (2.63% and 2.63% yesterday) and 18,932,066 of which have been recoveries (97.37% and 97.37% yesterday). Our death rate percentage continues to improve and after many months is now .13% lower than the world rate and now .03% lower than Canada which has the socialized type medicine Biden may well want to implement here  and on a deaths per million population measurement on a steady climb to 1537 ranks behind Belgium (1883), UK (1770) which had passed us despite leading world in testing), Italy (1585), and Portugal (1568) and only slightly worse than  Hungary (1483), Spain (1435), Bulgaria (1423),  Mexico (1385), Peru (1349), France (1287), Sweden (1247) that never closed its economy down like we did but has recently been experiencing a rapid rise in  deaths, Brazil (1152), Switzerland (1137), Argentina (1125), Poland (1115), Chile (1043), and Bolivia (970) and we have now conducted  347,767,593 tests (now at 1,046,717/M) compared to Russia at 746,705/M) as we are conducting  more tests in number and on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark,  Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains off the testing charts with tests at 1,243,646/M.

US Vaccinations: In the U.S. as of 2/20/2021 63.1 million doses have been given, 1.33 million per day in the last week (sounds impressive but if the rate does not increase it will take us some 9 months to have 75% of the population vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity. In California 7,453,768 total doses have been given (up to 81.2% of doses received), but typical of Newsom’s ineptness and because more than 1.5 million recall signatures have been turned in, due to the power of growing signatures on his recall petition, California has moved up slightly to now tied at at 35th out of 50 in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states. A long way to go to get herd immunity and little improvement relative to other states and a great reason to recall this inept governor. As of 2/20/2021 in California we have reduced hospitalizations to 7,747 with COVID-19 patients hospitalized occupying 12.7% of all hospital beds.

Non CV Case News: Former VP Pence has declined an opportunity to speak before CPAC amid some reports of a growing rift between him and Trump; Psaki continues to solidify her claim to the “Dodger in Chief” as she refused to answer a question of whether the president still considers Cuomo the gold standard in the response to the pandemic (given his cover up and the number of nursing home deaths caused by his directive his gold standard is really that of iron pyrite);  Boeing is finally recovering from the 737 Max groundings and is now facing a 777 Dreamliner with a PW4000 engine catastrophe on a United Airlines flight to Hawaii and potential grounding of of its 777 Dreamliners for more examination; Biden is revealing that at age 21 he walked into the  U.S. Senate and sat down in the Presiding Senator’s Chair only to be arrested (if true as opposed to prior recounting of arrests or successes a revealing moment of a different period in our history); Big Fredo may be moving closer to aping The Godfather as his actions in distorting NY nursing home deaths may be criminal (an early test of Biden’s vow to have an independent DOJ?); CNN cannot it seems rid itself of covering for Cuomo’s nursing home deaths scandal and continues to merit falling ratings and disgrace; in California where money is the mothers’ milk of politics it is legal for politicians to request contributions to their favorite charities and the only requirement is that the donation if over $5000 must be reported (Newsom who will be facing most likely a recall soon collected at Newsom’s behest $226 million and if anyone does not believe those payments reek with quid pro quo they are total fools: finally some nations are rising up a against Big Tech where it will hurt them most in their pocket book as Canada is joining Australia to require payment from Facebook on content from Canadian news sources (could not happen to a more arrogant company than one led by Zuckerberg; although 80% of the recall Newsom signatures have been verified, signature drive continues to insure a recall in the event that any of the 1.5 million signatures already received are not valid to insure Newsom is put on a recall ballot where he needs to be given his unmitigated ineptness: https://recallgavin2020.com/petition/

Chicago Gun Violence: HeyJackass.com is back to show that through February 20, 2021,  gun violence involving mostly persons of color shooting persons of color in Chicago is alive and well with 376 persons shot of whom 79 have died.

Reflections on Nixon’s trip in 1972 to China: Taking the long view, we simply cannot afford to leave China forever outside the family of nations, there to nurture its fantasies, cherish its hates and threaten its neighbors." Richard Nixon, sadly we also need to have a more open eye to Chinese practices that are not in our best interests and pose existential threats to this country.
