            CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on a slowing down basis the new year with cases now nearing 200 million at  199,957,754 cases (199,558,118 yesterday); 14,348,889 of which are active, 184,608,865 closed with 180,353,614 recoveries (97.69% and 97.69% yesterday, and 4,255,251 deaths (2.31% and 2.31% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentage with some plateaus, dips, and rises but which has been stuck on the same death rate for many weeks but barring an unforeseen spike in deaths should fall to 2.30% tomorrow.
            CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 35 million at 35,907,196 (35,894,261 yesterday)  with 5,555,178 active cases of which 11,890 are serious or critical, (11,826 yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now on a serious upswing due to Delta virus up to .021% of active cases and now a steady increase in the number of serious or critical cases to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 17,381, 30,352,018 closed, with 629,951 deaths (2.08% and 2.08% yesterday) and with 29,722,067 recoveries (97.92% and 97.92% yesterday). Our death rate percentage has been stuck at 2.08% since July 12, 2021 and still and .23% lower than the world’s death rate.

             Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1891 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (587269) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.31% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.86% of its closed cases have died (3117), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2644),   Brazil (2602) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Columbia newly added to the list  (2355);  Argentina (2323), Belgium (2168), (Italy (2122), Poland (1991), and the UK (1902) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1850), Chile (1847), Romania (1796), Ecuador newly added to list (1765), (Spain (1748),  France (1711), Portugal (1712), Bolivia (1508),  Sweden (1438) that never closed its economy down like we did, and Switzerland (1250). 
              Tests: We have now conducted 532,272,314 tests ( 1,597,895/M) just passed by France at 1,620,903 who is now 1^st  on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,620,710/M.

               CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys  that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which has been passed by Argentina and newly added Columbia to move down to 12^th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1850/M with a fatality rate of 9.72% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                     Guatemala:  Active Cases:  33,799 Deaths/M 574
                     Honduras:    Active Cases: 191,026 Deaths/M 784
                     El Salvador:  Active cases:     8,177 Deaths/M 406
              US Vaccinations: As of 8/2/2021 346.9 million doses at up from .663 million per day to .673 per day (down to 7 months to go for 75% of population vaccinated) and in California 88,024 per day which means if the rate does not increase it will take us now some 4 months to have 75% of the population of California vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who may believe that 90% is required).  In California 45,340,695 total doses have been given (88.9% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 86.7%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California has  moved  up from 17^th  to 16^th tied with Utah  of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 53.1% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 49.7% has moved up  from 19^th to 18^th among the 50 states.  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
              Non  CV News: The NY AG has just released a detailed report on Andrew Cuomo’s alleged sexual harassment of multiple corroborating claimants sparking renewed calls for his resignation or impeachment while he defiantly denies all allegations and for now has no intention of resigning (White House has so far been silent on its view); the Andrew Cuomo sexual misconduct scandal has on this issue lit the flame of needed bipartisanship in that every member, Blue and Red, from New York in the House and Senate are calling for Cuomo to resign which may be the least of his problems as the Albany DA is investigating criminal culpability (as a 3 term governor Cuomo has appointed a slew of judges in the Empire State and with his arrogance is probably feeling that there is no way his appointees will turn their back on him and perform their sworn duties as a judge); Biden is scrambling to try to find a way to extend the ban on evictions through executive order as Mad Maxine throws the Constitution into the toilet and urges Biden to ignore SCOTUS and issue an extension; Alexander Vindman trying to sell his book was on Morning Joe  making the unchallenged claim that not removing Trump cost us 600,000 lives (total insane rant but a anti-Trumper always a big welcome on the show); the NIH Director is playing with his COVID-19 Yo-Yo first urging vaccinated parents to wear masks at home to protect their unvaccinated children then reversing himself; as mask mandates are becoming the norm, from the government it looks more and more like the Keystone Kops as a former Biden COVID-19 adviser proclaims that cloth and paper masks are not that effective and should be replaced with N-95 masks (only in government can you mandate the wearing of a mask that is great for fogging up your glasses and concealing your identity but useless in fighting the virus; Missouri’s governor was quick to act after the McCloskeys entered their guilty pleas by pardoning them; finally voters are seeing shallowness self promoting side of AOC as Nina Turner,  the candidate she backed in the Blue primary for Ohio’s 11^th District lost;  as masks continue to face attacks for not being effective, leave it to the political cartoonist showing a disgraced Fauci trying to become relevant with his “Bubble Boy” CV resistant protection:

               a. 1921 MLB 1^st Commissioner Judge Kenesaw Mountain Landis affirmed the lifetime ban from baseball of 8 baseball players of the Chicago White Sox known as Chicago Black Sox one day after the jury deliberating for 3 hours on the trial for the alleged  fixing of the 1919 World Series found all 8 not guilty.
               b. 1946 Santa Claus Land, the world’s first themed park, opened in, appropriately named, Santa Claus, Indiana.
               c. 1977 Tandy announced the TRS-80, one of the world’s first mass produced personal computers.
               d. 2004 the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty reopened to the public after being closed following the 9/11 attacks.
               e.  2019 Patrick Crusius entered a Walmart in El Paso, Texas and started shooting and when the shooting stopped, he had killed 23 and wounded 23 and fled the scene to shortly thereafter surrender to authorities. His trial has not yet started due to the delays in the judicial system due to COVID-19 pandemic.

              Non  CV News: Ilhan Omar is opening her anti-Semitic mouth again comparing the U.S. and Israel to terror groups such as the Taliban and Hamas and refusing to back down; Gunther Hashida has become the 3^rd Capitol Police Officer who responded to the events of January 6, 2021 to commit suicide with authorities not able to conclude his suicide was linked to the events; Meghan McCain will soon be leaving as the only voice with a clue on The View predicted Ron DeSantis would bury the Illegal Alien Supporter Queen Harris in a race for the Oval Office; in a refreshing but surprising move, the New York State United Teachers reiterated its opposition to a vaccine mandate being proposed by Governor Cuomo; Biden was ranting that the voting system is under attack by Republicans due to their efforts to suppression voting by requiring ID’s (it is under attack but the source of attack is unsolicited mail in voting, ballot harvesting and opposition to what should be a no brainer—requiring a voter to prove his identity to prevent fraud); in a déjà vu spoof where Chris Cuomo handed gigantic nasal swabs to brother Andrew for COVID-19 at a Red Tennessee fund raiser McCarthy was presented with a gigantic gave to represent loss of the Blue majority in the House and he joked that given the size hard not to hit Pelosi which brought the blues howling that he should resign (clearly humor is dead among the Blues); the once favorite American women’s soccer team had too much woke and lost to Canada 1-0 on a penalty kick blowing their chance for a repeat Gold Medal to be relegated to trying to salvage a bronze (which it woke still rules for the team it will be a hard path); Senator Graham has announced he has been infected with COVID-19 even after being fully vaccinated and has mild flu like symptom and will be quarantining himself for the next 10 days (more proof that vaccines will protect you from death or serious illness but not being infected which will provide fuel to the fire for mask mandates); Avenatti representing himself in his California fraud trial has filed motions for mistrial alleging the government failed to provide information obtained by 9 witness called to testify against him; after Biden was excoriated for lying that he drove a 18 wheeler in his youth when the closest he ever got was a 4-6 wheel school bus and being a passenger in an 18 wheeler, leave it to the political cartoonist heap ridicule on another Biden lie:

              5.  Hard to Believe But Honor Among Thieves—bemoaning the birth on this day in 1897 of Karl-Otto Koch, an SS Colonel who was the first head of the Buchenwald Concentration Camp but was transferred after allegations of theft, corruption and murder to the Majdanek Concentration Camp as Camp Commander until 86 Soviet POW’s escaped causing him to be charged with criminal negligence and removed to work in the SS Personnel Office in Berlin. His past at Buchenwald caught up with him and he was charged with murder and embezzlement, tried and sentenced to death for disgracing himself and the SS and executed by a SS firing squad on April 5,1945 5 days before American troops liberated Buchenwald.

              On this day in:
               a. 1873 to the joy of future tourists who would be spared the stench of urine and feces and the debris of used needle for a good period of time, San Francisco’s Clay Street Railroad of Cable Cars commenced operations.
               b. 1939 Alfred Einstein and Leo Szilard wrote a letter to President Roosevelt indicating a bomb in which the atom were split was feasible and urged him to have it built.
               c. 1943 Jewish inmates at the Treblinka Concentration Camp, where over 900,000 Jews were murdered, revolted, and managed to burn numerous buildings before several hundred escaped. Sadly, about half who did were captured and executed. On a silver lining the damage to the camp caused it to be shut down.
               d. 1948 a British South American Airways Avro Lancastrian carrying 6 passengers and 5 crew on a flight from Buenos Aires to Santiago, Chile crashed into Mount Tupungato, killing all 11 aboard and became buried in the snow and ice not to be discovered for 50 years.
               e.  1990 Iraq invaded Kuwait and quickly overran the country  which led to the Gulf War.

              US Vaccinations: As of 8/1/2021 346.5 million doses at .663 million per day (7 months to go for 75% of population vaccinated) and in California 87,539 per day which means if the rate does not increase it will take us now some 4 months to have 75% of the population of California vaccinated which many believe is necessary to develop herd immunity (other than Flip Flop Fauci who may believe that 90% is required).  In California 45,274,227 total doses have been given (88.7% of doses received to exceed the U.S. average of 86.6%), but even with the pressure of a recall to be scheduled this fall which hopefully end Newsom’s term, California has  moved  up from 18^th to 17^th  of the 50 states in terms of the percentage of doses administered as a percentage of doses delivered to the states and at 53.0% of its population fully vaccinated compared to the U.S. average of 49.6% has moved down from 17^th to 19^th among the 50 states.  A long way to go still to get herd immunity in terms of getting vaccines received into arms and the percentage of the population fully vaccinated compared to other states which means a great reason to recall this inept and hypocritical governor.
              Non  CV News: Mayor Lightfoot tired of being blasted for the crime wave in Chicago is tapping her foot to the beat of the Lollapalooza Music Festival she’s bring to Chicago with its anticipated 100,000 fans in a potential spreader event while announcing she is ready to impose return of CV restrictions; in Texas maybe the deer will be enlisted to fight the swarm of illegals with their bare hooves as two does were caught aping kangaroos and boxing on a Texas homeowner’s surveillance camera:  
                                                      
Brian Stelter has left the crashing ratings shelter to compare Trump supporters with cult followers of Jonestown while having Jackie Spear on his show who was shot 5 times and left for dead after landing with Congressman Ryan to investigate what was going on a Jonestown;  Spier who should have the decorum to know better but she chimed in with the same observation (comparing Trump supporters to the mothers that forced their children in Jonestown to drink cyanide laced Kool-Aid to kill them merits the most severe condemnation); the eviction moratorium has expired on Saturday; as might be expected with the U.S. pullout from Afghanistan and the Taliban with their abject brutality surging, some 30,000 Afghans a week are fleeing the country; the Treasury Department has announced it will be releasing 6 years of Trump’s tax returns to Congress (good chance the Blues will pounce on them in a feeding like piranha frenzy to derail any idea Trump has to run in 2024 having already raised $100 million for that possibility);  as CV cases are rising big time across the nation due to the Delta Variant and the CDC is now recommending masks be worn indoors by fully vaccinated people, leave it to the political cartoonist to raise the question graphically are Blue run states following the science or following wokeism?

              5.  A Day Late and a Rehab Short--celebrating the birth on this day in 1942 of Jerry Garcia, co-founder of, lead vocalist and main songwriter for the Grateful Dead who struggled with obesity, smoking, drugs and alcohol which caught up to him; after belatedly checking in to a rehab facility, he soon thereafter suffered a fatal heart attack on August 9, 1995.

              On this day in:
               a. 1893 to the joy of breakfast lovers Henry Perky patented shredded wheat.
               b. 1943 162 B-24 bombers, after a flight of some 1200 miles over deserts and mountains, attacked the refineries located in Ploesti, Romania in an attempt to deprive Germany of its major oil supply, bombing at 200 to 800 feet off the ground and in the process having 53 planes shot down, 310 airman wounded, some 100 taken prisoner and some 55 planes damaged. Sadly, the sacrifice was for naught as damage was quickly repaired so the refineries were producing higher quantities of petroleum products in two weeks than the amounts being produced prior to the raid.
               c. 1971 former Beatle George Harrison and Ravi Shankar organized the Concert for Bangladesh held at Madison Square Garden with a cast of stellar performers who included Ravi Shankar and Ali Akbar Khan who had roots there to raise money to assist the refugees from the Bangladesh-Liberation War genocide. The concert and the live album of the performers there raised over $12 million. 

               d. 1981 to the delight of music lovers now and in the future, MTV began broadcasting.
               e.  2008 an international climbing expedition on K-2 was hit with a series of ice avalanches while climbing K-2, the second highest mountain on Earth starting of Friday, August 1 and ending on August 2 leaving 11 mountaineers dead and 3 injured in the deadliest single incident in climbing K-2.

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not July 31, 2021       

            CV World Cases: The CV pandemic across the planet continues on a slowing down basis the new year with cases now over 198 million at  198,320,811  cases (197,754,286 yesterday); 14,943,999 of which are active, 183,376,812 closed with 179,147,065 recoveries (97.69% and 97.69% yesterday, and 4,229,747 deaths (2.31% and 2.31% yesterday) to continue the slow trend of increased cases with increased recovery percentages and decreased death percentage with some plateaus, dips, and rises.
            CV USA Cases: Total cases now over 35 million at 35,689,184 (35,592,710 yesterday)  with 5,408,070 active cases of which 9,334 are serious or critical, (9,205 yesterday and 8,599 on 3/25/2021) (now on a serious upswing due to Delta virus up to .017% of active cases and now a steady increase in the number of serious or critical cases to decrease the reduction from the 29,271 peak on 12/31/2020 to 20,066, 30,281,114 closed, with 629,072 deaths (2.08% and 2.08% yesterday) and with 29,652,042 recoveries (97.92% and 97.92% yesterday). Our death rate percentage has been stuck at 2.08% since July 12, 2021 and is still .23% lower than the world’s death rate.

             Standing: On a deaths per million population measure on a steady   but slow climb to 1889 the U.S. ranks behind Peru (5865) the new number 1 which has had a quantum leap in deaths previously unmatched which was a change in the classification to give Peru the a new method of reporting to have a fatality rate of 9.31% of total cases now; Hungary the new number 2 has had a huge continuing surge in deaths with the increase now slowing down and improving slightly to  3.86% of its closed cases have died (3117), aping Hungary in terms of increase in deaths Bulgaria (2642),   Brazil (2594) which has been hit with a rapid rise in deaths and cases and passed us and Italy, Columbia newly added to the list  (2340);  Argentina (2313), Belgium (2168), (Italy (2121), Poland (1991), and the UK (1899) which had passed us despite leading world in testing and now has new deaths barely increasing),  and slightly better than Mexico (1844), Chile (1837), Romania (1795), Ecuador newly added to list (1762), ( Spain (1742),  France (1709), Portugal (1708), Bolivia (1501),  Sweden (1438) that never closed its economy down like we did, and Switzerland (1250). 
              Tests: We have now conducted 529,199,872 (now at 1,588,744/M) just passed by France at 1,590,639 who is now 2^nd on a per capital basis for all nations (other than those nations that contain small populations like Bahrain, Denmark, Israel, Malta, Singapore and UAE) other than the U.K. which remains as king of the mountain with respect to tests at 3,575,718/M.
               CV Open Gate: Lost in the pronouncements by Biden and his lackeys  that there is no crisis of illegals surging across the border is that fact that COVID-19 is alive and well and spreading in the Northern Triangle and Mexico which has been passed by Argentina and newly added Columbia to move down to 12^th  on my list of deaths from the pandemic  at 1844/M with a fatality rate of 9.84% of closed cases and the 3 countries in the Northern Triangle in terms of active cases and deaths per million are as follows even though the data may be suspect as underreported (regardless of number we need no more cases):
                     Guatemala:  Active Cases:  35,918 Deaths/M 563
                     Honduras:    Active Cases: 188,580 Deaths/M 778
                     El Salvador:  Active cases:     7,726 Deaths/M 403

              Non  CV News: AOC one of the proponents of defund the police because she spent some $34,000 on private security in the first half of 2021 while her constituents and far too many residents of the Big Rotten Apple are dying like flies from surging shootings; thanks to California’s proposition that required pig farmers to provide more space for their pigs, California which consumes 15% of the “other white meat” will soon face shortages of pork and rising prices (as bacon prices go sky high to make bacon a memory, pity the poor California BLM protestors who will not be able connect with supporters with their “pigs in a blanket, fry’em like bacon” chant; Shaun King a liberal black activist whose charities he controls have raised substantial money’s base of “white guilty” is living the good life with his wife having purchased a New Jersey lake front home in New Jersey for $842,000; teammates of fencer Alen Hadzic accused of sexual misconduct were wearing pink masks in protest prior to the start of the epee fencing event at the Olympics; the compulsory vaccination trend continues as both the University of Michigan and Michigan State University announced the requirement that all in person students must be vaccinated and while in class must wear mask despite being vaccinated; in a Chick-fil-A déjà vu, in East Lansing which operates a city run farmer’s market is in court after it banning a farm operated by a couple which also hold weddings on their property but refused to book same sex marriages on religious grounds from selling its produce (city has a nondiscrimination ordinance but couple never refused to sell produce to gays, lesbians or transgenders); homeless protestors have shown up at Pelosi’s house in Feces City to protest the end of the ban on eviction which is expiring today; in Indianapolis parking lot outside a funeral home gunshots were heard and a 4 year old girl in critical condition, a sixteen year old and adult man were in the hospital as the suspect fled before police could arrive (wonder if the shooter was paying respects to fellow gang member lying in the home awaiting services and ran into a rival gang member?); the border crisis continues to worsen as more and more CV infected illegals are crossing to be sent out of processing centers to mingle and infect Americans inland from the border while CNP agents are being infected and having to vacate posts into quarantine; Senate was still trying to complete drafting the $1 trillion infrastructure bill and failed at the end of a rare Saturday session and will be in session again of Sunday; in a show must go on moment the band ZZ Top played its first concert without its founder Dusty Hill who had died in his sleep at age 72 several days ago; marine biologists have found in the ocean deeps two marine creatures that bear a striking resemblance to Sponge Bob and Patrick;  as violent crime soars and police budgets and numbers of officers willing put up with the danger and lack of political support, leave it to the political hypocrisy of the Blues conflating violating growing mask mandates with soaring crime:

              5.  4th Time Not the Third Is the Charm--celebrating the birth on this day in 1992 of Cuban born pitcher José Fernández who failed in his first 3 attempts to defect to the U.S. but succeeded on his fourth to become a pitcher for the Miami Marlins from 2013 to his death in 2016, overcame Tommy John Surgery, and his pitching career was on an upward track until 5 days after his girlfriend announced she was pregnant, on September 25, 2016 drove his boat at over 56 knots into a rock jetty killing himself and 2o passengers. Toxicology reports revealed he had cocaine in his system and was legally DUI.

              On this day in:
               a. 1977 the Second Continental Congress accepted the services of Gilbert du Motier, the Marquis de Lafayette to serve in the Continental Army with the rank of major general.
               b. 1970 the officially sanctioned issue of rum to British seaman in the British Royal Navy was ended.
               c. 2006 an ailing Fidel Castro transferred power to his brother Raul who would keep Cuba in his authoritarian Communist grip until bowing to old age of 90 stepped down but the party still rules as demonstrations against the regime have erupted throughout Cuba.

               d. 2007 Operation Banner, the longest operation in military operation in British history which had begun on August 14, 1969 at the request of the government of Northern Ireland as a peace keeping mission and quickly in the eyes of Catholics there morphed into an army of occupation, finally came to an end after the army suffered some 1400 deaths and over 6,000 wounded.
               e.  2012 American swimmer Michael Phelps broke the record set in 1964 by Russian gymnast Larisa Latynina who had won 14 individual medals and 4 team medals by running his medal winning total to 22 but after a brief retirement came back in 2016 to add icing to the medal cake by bring his total medal count to 28, 23 of which were gold  with 13 individual and 10 team before retiring for good.
               Reflections on what Operation Banner actually accomplished:  Well, in Newry where I was, it’s a predominantly Roman Catholic area, so you have to say that most of the people I came into contact with would have been Catholics. In Newry I also saw that rather than peacekeeping between the Catholics and the small Protestant community, we were pushing a wedge through, which was furthering the division between the two communities. I could see that we were actually polarizing them.” Michael Biggs, a captain in the British officer, stationed in Northern Ireland who left the British Army as a conscientious objector as a result of his experiences there.
