Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 7, 2017 As Irma heads toward Florida growing concern of potential damage it might do to two nuclear power plants operated by Florida Power and Light (FPL has assured the public that it will have plenty of time to properly shut down the plants if threatened by loss of electricity running the reactor cooling pumps); two of the most likely computer projectors show the eye of Irma passing over Miami (complete disaster) and the other passing 40-50 miles off shore to the East (damage but a lot less); Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi on the news channels warning that price gouging would not be tolerated and companies that engaged in the practice would be subject to fines and public scorn from her office that would be destructive to their bottom line and praising the response of Home Depot and Amazon in capping prices and getting needed supplies into South Florida; after cutting a deal with the Blue leadership that prior to its announcement a few hours before RINO Ryan called it disgraceful, RINO Ryan will be having a private dinner meeting with President Trump to be served in all likelihood baked crow; Merkel is feeling the wrath of Germans outrage over her open border policy that has promoted the arrival of 1,000,000 unvetted unassimilated refugees, mainly Muslims into Germany and yesterday felt the sting of tomatoes hitting her in a rally (anger understandable as news of the Palestinian Front for the Liberation of Palestine, a terrorist group backed by Iran, has been given the green light to campaign in the upcoming German elections); after two collisions involving two US Navy ships in the Pacific with two civilian ships, we learn of the disastrous legacy of Obama’s relentless drive to cut back military spending as a recent report details that far too many ships of the 7^th Fleet lack the proper certification as to fitness of crew and equipment to accomplish combat missions (really disturbing as we are facing more and more dangers in North Korea and the South China Sea); the left is in another hysteria and demanding that Kid Rock who makes his home in Detroit and is an active philanthropist in the city cancel 8 concerts at Detroit’s Little Caesars Arena because he does not support has been Kaepernick’s refusal to stand for national anthem, supported Trump who provided proof that he had donated $1,000,000 to organizations providing assistance to Harvey victims, and embraces the Confederate Flag; through September 6, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2606, and the death toll again on the rise to 447.

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 6, 2017 Irma which is proving not to be sweet has become a Cat 5 monster bearing down on Florida that has declared a state of emergency and residents of Broward County have been ordered to evacuate; President Trump has reached across the aisle and struck a deal with the Blues for Harvey aid and funding for another three months to prevent a government shutdown over Ryan’s objections (McConnell and Ryan appear to be in a race with Schumer and Pelosi to see who can be more obstructionist against the Trump agenda); the wife of indicted IT staffer for Debbie Wasserman has agreed to return to the U.S. to face charges while Wasserman lamely tries to defend her retention of him on her payroll until he was arrested trying to flee the country; the View which is clueless on issues that Americans care about pounced all over Sarah Huckabee Sanders for working for Trump as Press Secretary; the it’s a video queen Susan Rice whose credibility is zero has met privately with the House Intel Committee over what is the real scandal and threat to our democracy that Mueller should be investigating—the unmasking of Trump advisors and supporters; Glenn Simpson the boss of Fusion GPS behind the false anti Trump dossier has stonewalled and is refusing to cooperate with the House while Mueller continues to chase windmills with the fantasy of the Russian collusion delusion; Hillary will be on the leech, money sucking book sales trail with the arrogant concept of charging people buying her book of delusions for her to sign it (good luck on that as only a fool other that a mental health professional looking for signs of mental illness would want to buy it);  through September 5, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2512, and the death toll again on the rise to 446.

b. 1870 in Laramie, Wyoming, Louisa Ann Swain became the first woman to legally cast a vote in a general election. 

c. 1901 Leon Czolgosz, an unemployed anarchist (have you ever seen one employed?) fatally wounded President McKinley at the Pan-American Exposition in Buffalo, New York. In the 45 days following McKinley’s death 8 days later, Czolgosz was tried, found guilty and executed in the electric chair.

d. 1916 Clarence Saunders opened the first self-service grocery store, Piggly Wiggly in Memphis, Tennessee.

e. 1962 the U.S. began Exercise Spade Fork, a nuclear readiness drill which assumed 48 million civilian and military deaths following nuclear strikes on the homeland (given the threat posed by Kim Jong Un today one would hope that those plans have been updated and are ready to be instantly implemented).

September 5, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not International Charity Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 5, 2017 Nikki Haley made a powerful request for more sanctions against North Korea warning that the rogue nation is “begging for war” and that the U.S. and the civilized world have run out of road but so far the Security Council has not voted for or against sanctions; Irma is no longer Irma La Douce and looking more like Irma L’amer as it is projected to be a Cat 5 and worse may hit Florida (pray that if it does it does not ape Katrina and after slamming Florida crosses into the Gulf, strengthens and then delivers another punch to Houston and Louisiana); DACA the unconstitutional executive order by Obama ceased to exist but Congress will have six months to come up with a solution to the 800,000 or so “Dreamers” illegally brought to this country by their illegal alien parents (time for compromise with Congress extending guest worker status for these people and a wait in line path to citizenship if and only if the debt ceiling is raised,  the Wall is built, Kate’s Law is passed, e-verify becomes the employment law of the land and the border becomes secure in reality and not just in name); Perez, the head of the DNC was on a Howard Dean like melt down rant after the announcement of the end of DACA which does not bode well for the idea of compromise; on the bias front Regnery Publishing, a publisher for many conservative authors, has severed its relationship with the NYT due to its bias on its “Best Sellers List”; on the Clinton front a few leaked pages from her book of delusions What Happened disclose another cause other than herself for her loss—Bernie Sanders and news that George Soros is at it again this time funding a lawsuit to block New Hampshire’s voter ID law; on the narcissism front this week’s winner is not Obama or Trump but rather Mayor De Blasio who despite approval ratings of only 42 percent is seriously suggesting there should be parades in his honor (what a joke!); through September 4, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2590, and the death toll again on the rise to 444.

5.  Move Too Fast Life Does Not Last—celebrating the birth on this day in 1946 of Farrokh Bulsara better known to his fans as Freddie Mercury, noted singer and songwriter for the British band Queen who had many homosexual relationships, contracted AIDS and died at the age of 46.

On this day in:                       

a. 1960 Cassius Clay was floating like a butterfly and stinging like a bee while winning the gold medal for the light heavyweight boxing class.

b. 1969 Lt. William Calley of the U.S. Army was charged with premeditated murder of 109 men, women and children at the village of My Lai in South Vietnam in 1968, a sad and despicable day for the U.S. Army compounded by its attempts to cover up the massacre. 

c. 1972 8 members of the Palestinian terrorist group “Black September” at the Munich Olympics Game,  broke into the dorm housing 11 Israeli athletes, killing 2 and taking the other 9 hostage. The terrorists and the hostages were flown by helicopter to the airport under the guise of being then flown to an undisclosed Arab country but really to be ambushed by West German police who had underestimated the number of terrorists and totally botched the ambush resulting in the death of all the hostages, 5 terrorists, and 1 policeman. The 3 terrorists who survived were convicted and sent to prison but later released in exchange for a hijacked Lusitania jet.  

d. 1975 Lynnette “Squeaky” Fromme, a follower of Charles Manson, attempted to assassinate President Ford in Sacramento, was tried and convicted, and sentenced to life in prison and was paroled in 2009. 

e. 1986 5 members of the terrorist Abu Nidal Organization hijacked Pan Am Flight 73 while it was on the ground in Karachi, Pakistan with 386 passengers and crew aboard. Once they realized that one of the passengers had opened an exit door allowing several to jump out, the 5 opened fire, murdering 43 and wounding over a 100 before running out of ammunition. They surrendered, were tried, convicted and sentenced to death, a sentence that was commuted to life in prison where they continue to rot.

Reflections on the property use of charity on this International Charity Day:”Charity bestowed upon those who are worthy of it is like good seed sown on a good soil that yields an abundance of fruits. But alms given to those who are yet under the tyrannical yoke of the passions are like seed deposited in a bad soil. September 4, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Labor Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 4, 2017 The Security Council is convening today to consider a U.S. request for more sanctions even as indications are that this rogue nation will launch another ICBM today; look for our false friend that has done squat to restrain the monster it has created to veto along with Russia any more sanctions which frankly given Kim’s attitude toward his people will not work; President Trump is expected to rule on the fate of DACA which is a complicated issue with two competing ideas the rule of law which these minors’ broke when they illegally came here bringing their children with them and the compassion we as a nation feel toward minors who had no say in the decision to cross the border illegally; on the maternity front, Prince William and his wife the Duchess of Cambridge are expecting their third child; as the waters recede the death toll from Harvey rises to 50; just when you think we are coming together with the likes of J.J. Watts who has raised $18 million for relief of Harvey victims, a restaurant worker at the Rainforest Café in San Antonio was fired for posting on his Facebook account that the Houston evacuees since they were low tippers should go back to Houston and drown; in a moment of life imitates art, at the Burning Man Festival in Nevada a 41 year old man ran through the burning effigy and died of burns suffered; a national day of prayer for the victims of Harvey was held on Sunday and hopefully many in attendance were praying that Irma heads north away from the East Coast and the Gulf as it will be a Cat 5 when it makes landfall; through September 3, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2572, and the death toll again on the rise to 441.

He many have redeemed himself with news that thousands of emails from HRC’s private server were on his lap top which prompted the FBI to reopen its investigation which displeased Hillary to no end.

a. 1882 Thomas Edison flipped the switch at the world’s first commercial power generating station to bring electricity to a one mile square area of Manhattan thus beginning the electrical age.

b. 1950 the first Southern 500 was held at Darlington Raceway in South Carolina, the first NASCAR 500 mile race.  

c. 1957 in another black day for race relations, Governor Faubus called out the Arkansas National Guard to prevent nine African American students from enrolling in Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, prompting President Eisenhower to federalize the National Guard units removing them from Faubus’ control and sending in members of the 101^st Airborne to enforce desegregation. .

d. 1998 two students at Stanford Larry Page and Sergey Brin started Google.  

e. 2001 TokyoDisneySea as part of the Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu, Chiba, Japan opened to the public

September 3, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not US Bowling League Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 3, 2017 China is not our friend and when it comes to controlling the rogue lunatic Kim has completely ignored sanctions leading to the question of when China joins the world to eliminate this fat lunatic to postpone nuclear annihilation by us of North Korea’s nuclear and missile program (ball is in their court and the time for them to stand arm and arm with the civilized world is now); news out of N. Korea is that that rogue nation may have tested a hydrogen bomb which if it can be placed on an ICBM is a clear and present danger to the U.S. warranting preemptive nuclear strikes on artillery locations, the nuclear and ICBM testing and production facilities and wherever we have intel to believe this obese lunatic is located; on the education front in Houston the news is not good as many of Houston schools have been damaged and many not open for months which is probably why Betsy DeVos was with President Trump yesterday; on the sports front and a testimony to the human spirit that can overcome adversity, Jake Olson, a blind long snapper for USC delivered a perfect snap in SC’s point after touchdown against Western Michigan; China the world leader in protectionism and theft of intellectual property is opening its BRICS summit under the shadow of North Korea’s potential thermonuclear test to denounce protectionism (when will learn that this nation is not our friend, is a long term foe and will do squat to rein in North Korea); on the sports front too many of the Cleveland Browns in misguided support for a has been Colin Kaepernick took a knee in a preseason game (any team that condones such disrespect should merit a complete fan boycott); in yet another example of biting the hand that feeds you a Congolese boat refugee rescued while trying to get to Italy was arrested for a brutal gang rape at an Italian resort of a Polish tourist; through September 2, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2564, and the death toll again on the rise to 439.

d. 1914 French composer Alberic Mongard was shot to death while defending his estate against invading German troops.  

e. 2001 in a sad day for Christianity and the tolerance Christ preached, in Belfast Protestant loyalist picketed Holy Cross a primary school for Catholic girls hurling bricks, rocks, fireworks and obscenities at students attending for 11 weeks prompting hundreds of riot police backed by British soldiers to protect the terrified girls.

September 2, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not Victory Over Japan Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 2, 2017 Trump and Melania are visiting Houston and Louisiana to meet with flood victims, first responders and the Cajun Navy and see first hand the devastation caused by Harvey and hopefully will be spared the idiotic comments by the MSM over Melania’s stilettos or Trump’s lack of compassion; on the good news front, Florence a large human extermination type asteroid 2.7 miles in diameter is passing safely by our planet at a distance of 4.4 million miles; Houston and surrounding areas devastated by Harvey are slowly digging themselves out as the death toll as waters recede has climbed to 45 (not out of the woods yet as evacuations urged for people living near dams that may fail); if anyone believes in the power of prayer now would be a could time to start flexing one’s prayer muscles as Hurricane Irma now a Cat 3 and projected to grow to Cat 5 is headed toward us and if it does not swing north toward Bermuda and instead hits Florida, the East Coast or God forbid enters the Gulf of Mexico and makes landfall in Texas we will be in a world of hurt; on the PC front Liganore High School in Fredrick, Maryland has banned students from wearing feathered headdresses at its athletic events and the private Green Acres School in North Bethesda, Maryland has instructed parents not to allow their kids to wear Washington Redskins’ gear to school; George Clooney, an avid supporter of HRC’s campaign is out with a new movie he has directed Suburbicon which would be a perfect movie for deplorables to boycott (enough of lining the Hollywood leftist’s pocket books with our hard earned dollars while conservative performers are for all intent and purposes boycotted by producers and directors); the UN has finally gotten its act together by issuing a blistering report on Maduro’s human rights abuses in Venezuela (one hopes that the refineries that have shut down due to Harvey are the ones that refine oil from that failed state); through September 1, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2558, and the death toll again on the rise to 439.

5.  One Good Reason to Have a Sister—celebrating the birth on this day in 1951 of Mark Harmon noted TV actor who got a break to appear on TV since his sister Kristin was dating Ricky Nelson but ignoring the adage that you don’t bite the hand that feeds you, Harmon got involved in a bitter custody case over Kristin’s youngest son Sam due to her rehab over drug use which he dropped after she raised allegations that Harmon’s wife Pam Dawber was using cocaine.

a. 1666 the Great Fire of London broke out and raged for three days, destroying 10,000 buildings in the process.

b. 1870 Prussian forces at Sedan, France decisively defeated the French and captured Napoleon III and 104,000 of his troops, effectively winning the Franco-Prussian War.     

c. 1901 Vice President Teddy Roosevelt at the Minnesota State Fair uttered one of his famous lines, “Speak softly but carry a big stick.” Sadly under Obama we endured, “Speak loudly but carry no or a very small stick which I am afraid to use.”

d. 1946 the Interim Government of India charged with the transition of India and Pakistan to independence from British rule on August 15, 1947 was formed with Nehru as Vice President with the powers of Premier.  

e. 1987 the trial of Mathias Rust charged with landing his private plane in Red Square on May 27, 1987 commenced; he was found guilty and sentenced to 4 years but released after serving 14 months. His breach of the vaunted Soviet air defense system resulted in the dismissal of several high ranking members of the Soviet military.

September 1, 2017 Ridley's Believe It Or Not College Color Day

Ridley’s Believe It Or Not For September 1, 2017 Houston and surrounding areas devastated by Harvey are slowly digging themselves out as the death toll as waters recede has climbed to 44 (not out of the woods yet as evacuations urged for people living near dams that may fail); if anyone believes in the power of prayer now would be a could time to start flexing one’s prayer muscles as Hurricane Irma now a Cat 3 and projected to grow to Cat 5 is headed toward us and if it does not swing north toward Bermuda and instead hits Florida or the East Coast or God forbid enters the Gulf of Mexico and makes landfall in Texas we will be in a world of hurt; finally the left leaning professors and administrators are waking up to the adage that you don’t bite the hand that feeds you as parents, donors and prospective students are becoming outraged with the anti-free speech violence sweeping college campuses (time to rethink the idea of a four year education that leaves one mired in debt, unemployed and with zero thinking and problem solving skills?); new allegations that Comey may have committed perjury before Congress and evidence that he had already made up his mind to exonerate Hillary before the “investigation” was completed (what a mess and what a disaster to the integrity of the FBI and a direct slap to the face of those agents there); fortunately, a federal judge has ordered the FBI to release Hillary emails that the agency felt there was no public interest in releasing; Obama remains the gift that keeps on giving as taxpayers will be stuck in 2018 for $1,153,000 in expenses, the highest amount of any living ex-president;   Harvey has brought out the best in the deplorables but on the left like Linda Sarsour it brings out the worst as she tweets to raise money for Harvey for an organization that has nothing to do with flood relief only electing left wing candidates; through August 31, 2017 in Chicago the number of people being shot climbed to 2542, and the death toll again on the rise to 437.

5.  Driving Beats Flying In Bad Weather—celebrating the birth on this day in 1907 of Walter Reuther a socialist who after spending some time in the Soviet Union as a young man and seeing the reality of Stalin’s Soviet Union became a staunch anti communist and when he became the president of the UAW relentlessly expelled communists from the union. Sadly he was killed along with his wife in the crash of a chartered jet heading to a UAW recreation retreat in 1970.

On this day in:                       

a. 1715 King Louis XIV died after a reign of 72 years making him the longest ruling monarch in Europe although if Queen Elizabeth lives for seven more years, she will surpass that record.

b. 1914 from a population estimated to be between 3-5 billion in the early 19^th century only to be decimated by overhunting and loss of habitat, the last passenger pigeon on the planet, Martha died in the Cincinnati Zoo rendering the species extinct.      

c. 1939 Adolf Hitler signed an order calling for the euthanasia of physically disabled and mentally unfit citizens of the Third Reich.

d. 1983 Soviet fighters shot down a Korean Air 747 Flight 007 when it inadvertently strayed into Soviet airspace, killing all 269 aboard.  

e. 2004 34 jihadis attacked School Number One in Beslan, Russia holding over 1,000 people hostage until Russian security forces stormed the school three days later sending 31 jihadis on a one way ticket to Paradise but in the process losing 334 hostages, 186 of whom were innocent children which is a reason why Putin should be working with us to exterminate ISIS.
